Our story began in Norway where I met Sven. We married and started our family there, living on Sven’s family croft near Bergen for 8 years. We came to Scotland in 1991, fell in love with Moray, and decided to stay. In 1997 we purchased the fire damaged farmhouse and derelict steading at Marcassie, with 23 acres of land. Restoration of the land and buildings has been a long slow labour of love, inspired by nature, craftsmanship and creativity, and the wish to leave a positive legacy of human living which encompasses care and regeneration, for self, others and the land. The farm is organically certified and produces vegetables, herbs and fruit, and we have ducks, hens and a friendly flock of Gotland x Shetland sheep. It is also home to a number of nature, food and craft-based enterprises. Our EU LEADER funding award in 2018 enabled us to build the Lodges and made possible the realisation of a long held dream to share this beautiful farm and the beauty of Moray with others. Marcassie Farm is intended to be a peaceful and contemplative place where you can find yourself and also be with others, a haven in which to unwind, digitally detox, smell the roses, touch the soil, hear birds and see stars. A space in Scotland where innovators and creatives can meet, and magic can take place.

Moray is known for its beautiful beaches, rivers, woodlands, hills and mountains and these offer excellent walking, cycling, swimming, rafting, rowing, fishing, skiing and golf. The nearest shops, restaurants and pubs are 2 1/2 miles away and there is no public transport to the farm, so we recommend you have your own car.
