We bought this house almost 10 years ago and spent 2 years lovingly renovating it. Even though it was a wreck, we were absolutely captivated by its unique views looking over the East Looe estuary. At night we sit and watch the wildlife in the woods around us, and it reminds us what a beautiful world we live in. We also created our favourite spot, which is a large sun terrace. We sit out for lunch and dinners watching the sunset with our children playing around us. It's become our paradise away from home and we come here as often as we can. Over time we've added a home office, and all sorts of toys for the children - including board games, home cinema with Disney+ and Netflix, PS4, Sonos, etc. My husband is a bit of a tech fan so he added all sorts of nice features and lighting to the house.
I'm an American living in London for almost 10 years and loving being part of both cultures! I've lived all over London but have settled in beautiful, leafy Putney when I am raising my girls, watching them play in the garden and taking them to nearby parks :)
We come down to Redcliffe House as often as possible, as we love to go kayaking in the sea, hiking in the woods and cliff paths, and travelling around South Cornwall visiting the sites. In the evenings, we cook up a feast in the kitchen and watch the sunset whilst the kids play games on the ps4 Just Dance is our favourite!).
The beautiful fishing town of Looe is a 3 min walk from the house, where you can go to the sandy beach, visit the shops (Quayside Fresh is a favourite) and go crabbing with the kids. If you want to hop in the car, we spend a lot of time at other, more secluded beaches, such as Talland Bay and Plaidy Beach. All worth a visit.
The woods around are ideal for hiking (Jack the Giant with nothing to do, Built a hedge from Lerryn to Looe). You can walk for days here in the most beautiful woodland. The cliff path from Looe to Polperro is quite the challenge though - make sure you give yourself 5 hours for it at least. We also love walking the Moors (Bodmin, Dartmoor, Exmoor are all nearby).
There is also plenty of more serene entertainment with the National Trust homes (Cotehele) and little villages (Lerryn, Golitha Falls, etc.).
