Rock View sits just off Moorlands Lane, a quiet village road, that winds down to the River Derwent. Rock View is away from the main road and lies between Froggatt Edge and the river. Rock View is the perfect Peak District get away, with nature on your doorstep. Ideal for couples, solo adventurers, and business travellers (close to the trans-Pennine route, the A623 to Manchester and Stockport). A perfect spot for walkers, rock climbers and cavers, cyclists, fly-fishing enthusiasts, ornithologists and nature watchers and for those just wanting a leisurely wander around the surrounding villages and countryside of the Derbyshire Dales. The historic villages of Stoney Middleton and Eyam are on the door-step and the historic country houses and gardens of Chatsworth (5 miles distant) and Haddon hall are within easy driving distance. Walk from the door into stunning scenery, with wild moors, dramatic rock edges, ancient woodland and the River Derwent. Being within England’s first designated national park Rock View is situated amidst the splendour of the Peak District scenery within a village, yet the city of Sheffield is a mere 20 minutes drive.
The holiday let occupies the ground floor of a larger very old house , although quietly tucked away from the road the house is within the pretty village of Froggatt. The holiday let has a patio at the front and views over a garden at the rear. The owner will try to be available when you arrive but will email detailed directions and the keysafe code a couple of days before your visit.
The Chequers pub, is in the village and serves good home cooked food along with a gourmet menu. Several other pubs and restaurants are within easy reach in the local area and cater for all tastes and budgets. There is a variety of take-aways also within easy reach, some of which deliver. The local shop and delicatessen at Calver, 1 mile away ,sells local produce, fabulous locally made bread, meat and vegetables and is a good all-round grocery store with an off- license. Chatsworth farm-shop is only 5 miles away. Access via shallow steps to the front door, accommodation all on one floor but not suitable for wheel-chair users. Sympathetically decorated and furnished to retain its style and character in keeping with its age, Rock View retains original features including stone mullion windows with leaded lights and stone fire places with a multi-fuel stove in the stylish and cozy sitting room, which has two large and elegant sofas. Located in The Peak District National Park which was the first area of England to be designated as such in 1963. Historic country houses and gardens, such as Chatsworth and Haddon Hall, are close by
