The location was spot on for us. Near to places we like to visit such as Stamford, Oakham and Rutland Water. The Cider Huts are in a tranquil setting away from the rat race which is what we both needed. It was really easy to find. We would love to...

Amazing little place. Better than expected. Would love to come back in warmer weather (not that the hut was too cold… with the stove going we were toasty! And the column heater was on when we arrived, making the hut very comfortable). Perfect bed.

After you’ve strolled down through the orchard and settled into one of the two Cider Huts, you’ll feel like you’ve left the world behind. Your little space amongst apple trees is a haven of nature and peace, where you can sit outside, soak up the sun and chat to the neighbouring sheep, but there’s plenty to do if you fancy exploring. While the hut has a rural, timeless feel, it does have a few modern tricks up its sleeve. If you just stocked up in town and came home to cook, you’ll find all the equipment in the kitchen. There’s an en suite bathroom, mains power, WiFi and even a TV stashed neatly at one end, for when you want to hop back on the grid for a second. The whole space has a delightful sense of authentic country charm, furnished with soft style and a few antiques dotted around. There’s also the matter of the treasure chest. There is a key to this locked box, which can be found if you follow the clues hidden in the hut. If you can open it, then the bottle of prosecco inside will add a celebratory fizz to your relaxing stay in the orchard.
Having moved to the Stamford area about 20 years ago, my wife and I have enjoyed living in the countryside. We are keen cyclists and enjoy taking walks around the many public footpaths. If you would like to borrow our tandem fitted with a wicker picnic basket, the ground of Burghley House makes the perfect backdrop. When we're not on bikes, we are keen gardeners and are in the process of growing wildflowers in our paddock. I have always had a love of old property and like to maintain an authentic feel when designing properties. We like antiques, but more vintage country style rather than "Fine Antiques." As regular travellers, my wife and I appreciate the importance of being left alone after checking-in. That said, if you want some ideas, suggested walks or places to visit, we'll be able to make recommendations not found on Trip Advisor.
The 110 miles of the Hereward Way links a string of quiet villages on scenic paths through the gentle hills, but a shortish section will bring you to nearby Stamford. Here you’ll find the majestic Burghley House with magnificent gardens. Just strolling around the market town of Stamford is a lovely experience in itself. It's packed with stone property and it's like walking through a real-life Jane Austen film set. The town is perfect for a little retail therapy amongst its high-quality independent shop and there's a good choice of cafes, pubs and restaurants to make it a perfect day out.
