「Lovely country house, great hosts, fabulous breakfast and great taxi service to Ballycotton. Would recommend for a break away.」
Kilmahon House was built in 1780 and is a listed Heritage House of Ireland. It has been fully renovated and sympathetically restored over a number of years to provide guests with modern day facilities while maintaining its original period features. It is set in extensive wonderful gardens that offer privacy and tranquility. The beautiful Georgian rooms offer a trip back in time and provide our guests with a lovely view over the birds sanctuary and Shanagarry Bay. The house is within a few minutes walk to the beach and coastline nearby. The famous Ballymaloe Cookery School is only a little walk away as well as Ballymaloe House.
Mike and Julia
The Ballymaloe Cookery School is 1.5km away and offers a huge variety of courses ranging from 1/2 day to a 12 week residential course. It has an organic farm, shop and gardens open to the public on the property.
The fishing village of Ballycotton is 6km away. It has guided tours by boat to the Lighthouse as well as fishing trips to offer. The Cliff Walk starting at Ballycotton offers walkers tremendous views and is approx. 4km long.
The Jameson Whiskey distillery in Midleton is 15kms from Shanagarry and gives guided tours with free tastings every 1/2 hour daily.
The local Shanagarry beach at Ballycotton Bay is a short walk up the street and has a Blue Flag status.
