Picture a traditional Irish hay loft over byre / stable with steps at the gable-end.
We converted the loft to a studio apartment with sofa bed, roof lights - timber clad apart from one stripped stone wall.
The studio includes a compact kitchen and dining area. There is ONE BED SETTEE suitable for 2 people SHARING.
Outside there is an elevated decking area which has a bistro table and chairs - with views of Carlingford Lough, Flagstaff and Anglesea Mountain.
A fire pit / barbecue area is close by.
Quarvue - between the mountains and the water. 100km from Dublin and 80km from Belfast - 10 minutes from M1 Junction 20.
The Cooley Mountains start at the end of the lane; Quarvue Loft looks down on the Narrowwater Estuary at Carlingford Lough.
3km from Omeath village and 10km from Carlingford. - No taxi service in Omeath. Limited bus service - none on a Sunday. Own car needed.
20-minute walk to Flagstaff Viewpoint and Fathom Woods.
The Mourne Mountains begin just across the Lough.
This was the last Gaeltacht in the east of the country: You can walk or cycle the narrow lanes and see the ruined cottages where student teachers came from Dublin to learn Irish a century ago.
We are 10km from Newry, 23km from Dundalk, 3km from Omeath and 10km from Carlingford. There is a limited bus service to Newry and Dundalk (Bus Eireann 161) from Cornamucklagh House (R173) - a 10 minute walk. There is no taxi service in Omeath. You will need your own car as the bus service is very limited and there is no service on Sundays.
There is an 8km coastal Greenway from Omeath to Carlingford with cycle hire in Carlingford. There is also a 6km canal-side Greenway from Newry to Victoria Lock on the R173.
