Ciara is the fourth generation to welcome guests through the doors of our B&B here in Oldcastle. Her mum, Jackie, ran the B&B for over 20 years before passing it on, and she's proud to continue the family tradition of warm Irish hospitality. Whether you're visiting for a wedding, work, or a relaxing break, we're always happy to help with local tips, recommendations, or organising a taxi if needed. She also run's the adjoining café 'Ciara's Candy & Café' serving great coffee, homemade treats, sourdouch toasties, acai bowls, all day breakfast and sourdough pizzas on Friday evenings. Creating a friendly, welcoming space where guests feel completely at home is something very important to us here at The Fincourt B&B

Nestled in the scenic northwest corner of County Meath, Oldcastle is the perfect base for exploring Ireland’s hidden gems. Just 3km from the town lies the Loughcrew Cairns, a remarkable collection of over 30 Neolithic passage tombs dating back to around 3300 BC. Perched atop the Slieve na Calliagh hills, the most prominent tomb, Cairn T, is especially known for its alignment with the rising sun during the equinoxes, which lights up the ancient carvings inside.
Other nearby attractions include the beautifully restored Loughcrew Historic Gardens, Tullynally Castle and Gardens, and Ballinlough Castle and Gardens — all offering peaceful walks and rich local history.
For those who love shopping, Navan, Cavan, and Mullingar are less than 30 minutes away. For larger retail experiences, Blanchardstown and Liffey Valley Shopping Centres are both under an hour's drive.
Oldcastle is also right in the heart of Meath’s equestrian country — whether you're after a gentle hack along quiet country roads or an intensive week of hunting, show-jumping, or eventing, everything is within easy reach.
Golfers are spoiled for choice with excellent courses nearby, including Headfort, Royal Tara, Crover, Virgina Park, The Radisson, and Slieve Russell — perfect for trying a different course each day.
And if you enjoy fishing, you’ll be surrounded by some of Ireland’s most scenic waters, including Lough Sheelin, Lough Ramor, Lough Derraghvara, Lough Bane, Lough Lene, and the River Blackwater — truly a fisherman’s dream.
