I am a senior career diplomat belonging to the Indian Foreign Service and have been living in my home stay, 'Madhusmruti' for over 5 years since my superannuation as India's Ambassador to Hungary. I have also successfully completed a doctorate post-retirement and am currently engaged in multifarious scholarly and intellectual pursuits. The library which I have built up in my house would be the envy of any bibliophile. I have a sharp taste for art and decoration and my aesthetic sense has led me to decorate this house and make it extremely pleasing and pleasant for my guests. I often get excellent reviews after their stay in 'Madhusmruti' and wish to return to Puri, the ancient heritage temple town of India with the world famous temple dedicated to Lord Jagannath, a lovely coast line and wonderful beach (including a recently inaugurated blue flag beach). Pl come to Puri and enjoy my home stay 'Madhusmruti'. The rest is for you to discover!

'Madhusmruti' is a boutique home stay, one of the best in Puri, which has a splendid display of ethnic art, artifacts collected from all over the world and plenty of books to keep one engaged, young and old alike. The art connoisseur will marvel at the collections which have been beautifully arranged to make the home stay a lively place to stay. The property is situated at one of the most important locations in the centre of the town, equidistant to the sea beach as well as to the temple barely 10 minutes by walk on either direction. Owned by a retired Ambassador it stands out for its beauty and elegance and is well known for its hospitality where the host gives personal care and attention to his guests. There are several amenities which guests can avail of, such as entertainment area, indoor games, swing in the balcony and views of the sea and leading roads from the second floor terrace. Being located close to a bustling market it offers great shopping and eating facilities in nearby restaurants, big and small, though the in-house kitchen can serve breakfast, lunch and dinner on prior request at additional cost. On the whole a great experience to savour and repeat.

Puri has several attractions. Besides the famous temple of Jagannath it has innumerable heritage buildings, monasteries, ancient temples and a great coastline which could enable a person to walk all the way from Puri to Chandrabhaga beach near the world famous sun temple of Konark. The small town of Konark is barely 30 kms away from Puri and is easily accessible by road. It boasts of an archaeological museum and a unique 'Light and Sound' spectacle performed every evening on the temple walls bringing alive the glory of ancient Kalinga, not to be missed. Besides guests love to visit the ethnic village of Raghurajpur, some 12 kms from Puri on the national highway en route to Bhubaneswar to see artisans engaged in creating art, the famous 'Patachitra', besides various other local handicrafts. A few kms down off the highway one can also visit the applique town of Pipli. Puri abounds in hotels and eateries suiting all tastes and pockets. With festivals taking place nearly every month Puri attracts visitors around the year though the world-famous Car Festival (Rath Yatra) falling in early July is the most important of them all attended my millions of devotees.
