Lakeside cabin on private property with access to the lake and permit to fish from the beachfront. Surrounded by stunning nature and forest, a playground for children, and lots to explore in the surrounding areas.
Straumnes is located next to the stunning lake, Úlfljótsvatn, and a couple of minutes' drive or walk to the famous lake Þingvellir. It takes you 20 minutes to drive to Þingvellir national park. -20 minutes to the geothermal baths, Fontana, which is en route to the famous Geysir (25 minutes further), as well as the stunning waterfall, Gullfoss (35 minutes further). -28 minutes drive to the cozy town of Hveragerði, where you can do a beautiful hike to Reykjadalur Valley (Steam Valley). The hike is approx. 3 km long each way, with lots of mud pools and hot springs along the way. Ending at a river where one can bathe! We recommend taking some cold drinks with you and fully enjoy what Icelandic nature has to offer! -There are many hiking trails in the area and around Hveragerði. You could even hike from Þingvellir to Reykjadalur Valley. -Flúðir is a small town, 46 minutes drive away. There you can enjoy another geothermal lagoon, the Secret Lagoon, and the tomato-centric restaurant Friðheimar. Look it up! Free parking at the premises. One needs to get to the cabin by driving as no public transport takes you all the way.
