Portacomaro is a small municipality in the province of Asti and is located in the famous Monferrato, an area that is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This area of Piedmont, which includes the provinces of Alessandria (40 km) and Asti, is known for its landscape rich in castles and vineyards and here are produced excellent wines and other delicacies. Important events take place here at any time of the year: The Palio of Asti in September, the Siege of Canelli in June (34 km) and the Truffle Fair in Moncalvo (18 km) in October. Castiglione d'Asti (23 km) is also very famous thanks to its castle, built before the year 1000, and the 13th century castle of Burio is also worth a visit.
