The community of Mt Zion has a rich history that is rooted in Jamaica's colonial past. It is approximately 6 minutes away from the Rosehall Great House (former home of the infamous White Witch of Rosehall, Annie Palmer), and adjacent to the Mount Zion Church built in 1838 by slaves. At first glance, Mt. Zion appears unassuming: overgrown trees and wild flowers line the road and byways while a few humble dwellings fan out over the hillside. However, the residents are friendly and welcoming to visitors. Guests can visit the local school, church and farms and chat with the residents who are genuinely happy to share their culture. After only a few minutes in in this tranquil, quiet community amongst the fascinating residents, visitors immediate feel at home.
