KIJANI been created has the result of my interest for different culture,and my love at first site for Lamu.In 1984 during one of my journey I came across this beautiful and remote island and get trapped by it's charm.Very soon it become clear that was the place where I wanted to stay.Architecture,decoration and nature are part of my life and my passion for carpets and Kilims linked my with the Arab world........On the end,it is a long story that I can share with my guest and travelers. SLOW TRAVEL Life in Lamu has a distinctly Arab-Oriental Flavour,the ladies scurry down back street wearing buibuis (black cloaks witch cover them entirely) and yet they are prone to shadowing their dark eyes with kohl and have been known to cast amorous glances from the folds of their buibuis towards favored admirers. In the evening the aroma of thick Turkishlike coffee permeates the atmosphere, old men sit together philosophizing on the front step of their houses,and little boys chase one another,darting in and out of quaint shops that line the main street. The restaurant of Lamu bustle with business. Bajun fishermen tell tales to one another while they enjoy heaped plates of rice. Night time is delightful,and every one take advantage of the cool breezes that blow from the Indian Ocean.
