Discover our peaceful retreat in Ihalakotte, perfectly situated with convenient train access. You can reach us easily by train from any station in Sri Lanka, including Colombo, Negombo, Galle, Kandy, Ella, Badulla, Rabukkana, etc. Just a short walk from the Ihalakotte station, our retreat offers a serene escape. We are conveniently located just 45 km from Colombo (a 2-hour direct train ride), 10 km from Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage (a 30-minute direct train ride), and 24 km from Kandy (Dalada Maligawa), which is only a 45-minute direct train ride away. You can also reach Galle, 80 km away, in approximately 3 hours by direct train, and Ella, 85 km away, in about 6 hours by direct train, one of the most famous and scenic train journeys in the world. Located near alagalla mountain range , Meeyan Ella, Dekinda Ella, Railway tunnel, Balana Fort, Ambalama. Enjoy the tranquillity of rural life, cook in our kitchen, shop locally. A perfect base to explore Sri Lanka’s beauty and culture.
I worked at Ceylinco Life, Sri Lanka, and am now enjoying my retirement. My elder son lives in Scotland, and my second son is in Australia. I currently live in Hingula with my wife and daughter. As a pensioner, I spend my time farming and helping travellers discover the best ways to enjoy Sri Lanka, offering tips and guidance to make their visit unforgettable.
Our property is nestled above the Ihalakotte Railway Station, offering a serene escape surrounded by mountains, lush greenery, and natural rock formations. To reach us, walk towards the Kandy side from the ihalakotte station, take the road on the left uphill, and after a 3-minute walk, you’ll arrive at our peaceful home. We offer four spacious rooms, perfect for two guests each, with proper bathrooms for your comfort. For a unique experience, we have an old-style bathing tank where you can enjoy a traditional bucket bath. The property also features an ancient wooden space, adding a touch of history to your stay. It’s a calm, rural retreat where you can unwind and connect with nature. Whether it’s the quiet charm or the beautiful surroundings, we are sure you’ll love this unique experience!
