Company information

Community Homestay Network (CHN) is a social enterprise involved in developing and supporting a network of community-based homestays all across Nepal. We connect travelers with Communities across Nepal, providing travelers a unique opportunity to stay with Nepali families and immerse in real Nepali life. At the same time, local communities get the opportunity to share their culture and landscapes with the world while gaining access to a sustainable source of income through tourism. The authentic experiences we offer travelers are created with the goal of having a direct socio and economic impact on local communities, women and families.

Property information

With a very unique and characteristic culture, Tharu is indigenous to the Terai region where a tiny, but a beautiful village, Barauli stands proudly with its centuries-old tradition, arts, and crafts. Their well-preserved authentic lifestyle makes Barauli a utopia of living history, culture, music, and green vegetation. A green belt of Nepal, Terai is home to hundreds of birds and endangered animals. Amid this beautiful story, the Barauli Community Homestay was created to provide a platform to the Tharu people for the preservation of their rich culture and a medium for locals to interact with the rest of the world. Understanding and experiencing Tharu people living in traditional Huts entertaining modern common facilities gives you a new perspective on life. You can enjoy Jeep Safari, Cycling around the Village to Narayani River, witness Wildlife and feel the Nature and People. Enter this wonderful community and live like a true Tharu local while you stay on the outskirts of the famous Chitwan National Park.

Neighbourhood information

Floating in their traditional values, locals have come forward to initiate the Homestay projects from their very own houses; opening the doors to the rest of the world to let discover the precious culture. Simply but traditionally designed huts display the passion of the locals towards their culture and nature. Community Homestays worked in collaboration with GAdventures and the greater Barauli community to bring together an array of local houses whereby tourists can immerse themselves into the life of the Tharu people and contribute to the social and economic development of this community and this region. Twelve small cottages, made by the locals, coats the sensation of the ancient Tharu culture and spending time inside the huts takes you back to the ancient glory days.
