Haumoana is a self-contained studio in Waikanae Beach.
The space
This is an original 1950s bach-style space, so expect a few quirks from this old girl. But it is a warm, dry, recently renovated cosy space with a modern ensuite bathroom. The room has a small kitchenette with all the facilities you need to keep your wine chilled and make your partner a morning cup of tea or coffee and toast (there is no cooktop).
There is no TV, but bring you own device and access your own streaming platforms using the wifi available. There are also plenty of books provided to read during your stay.
Please see photos to make sure it is suitable for your stay.
The studio was recently renovated by hosts who love to travel, so you will find all the amenities to ensure a delightful stay, including a divine king-size bed that guarantees you a blissful night’s sleep.
Outside is the perfect place to soak up the warm rays on your private, sheltered deck. You have the use of a Baby Weber BBQ, and a hot shower for rinsing off after a dip in the ocean.
Guest access
Access is by your own private drive, where you can park your car. You have your own private courtyard, where you won't be disturbed. Your host's house is to the rear of the section, but is separate from the guesthouse and courtyard.
We've travelled throughout the world, staying in some wonderful rental houses.
Haumoana is a guesthouse at the front of your host's section, who are available to assist or for a chat if you like, but will otherwise leave you to enjoy your stay in peace and quiet.
Nestled in the heart of the quintessential Kiwi beach community of ‘Olde Beach’, Waikanae, just a five-minute stroll from the seashore and several local cafes, Haumoana is a thoughtfully renovated private studio for one or two. Staying here is like retreating to a little isolated world. Sited at the front of your hosts’ section, Haumoana has its own driveway, walkway, outdoor private deck, and small garden. So you can truly enjoy the peace and quiet of our small part of Aotearoa.
Getting around
The main way people explore the local beach area is by walking, as everything is close. There is also plenty of parking everywhere. There are bus stops and the Expressway within a few minutes walk of Haumoana. The train station that takes you into Paraparaumu or Wellington is at the top of the road, in Waikanae village.
