Loved how peaceful and relatively private it was. The location was perfect for the event we were attending but it was also close enough to the city to do some exploring. Super tidy and had all the necessities. Would 100% stay again.

Crafted from beautiful Nordic spruce, our cabin is a cozy sanctuary nestled in the heart of Aongatete, a region famed for its lush kiwi fruit orchards. As you step onto the property, you'll be greeted by the calming presence of avocado, lemon, and lime trees that surround the cabin, creating a peaceful and fragrant environment. Whether you're here to relax on the deck, savour the fresh air, or explore the stunning landscapes, our cabin offers a unique blend of natural beauty and rustic charm. It's the perfect place to unwind, immerse yourself in nature, and experience the tranquil rhythms of life in the Bay of Plenty. Recent updates include: - A firepit area - Timber pavers to help guide you to and fro your parking as well as to the external bathroom. - At night time we now have festoons that light up the area creating a warm and cosy atmosphere around the fire at night. This also helps to see the pathway clearly at night time. - An Eco Dot; use this to switch off the cabin lights at night, turn on the air conditioning during those hot nights or to listen to your favourite artist. **Please note that the initial 1st day/night stay includes free firewood and essentials to get the fire-it up and running. If you require additional wood, kindling, firelighters, paper and pellets we can provide this at an extra charge of ten NZ dollars per additional day / night.**
Hi there! We’re Philip and Christina, and we’re excited to welcome you to our cabin in Aongatete. Philip grew up in Tauranga and the UK before returning to the Bay of Plenty, where we’ve made our home. Christina, originally from the UK, gardener trained at Kew Gardens. Now, she shares her passion locally, nurturing the landscapes of this beautiful region we now call home. Our love for nature and the outdoors inspired us to build this cabin from scratch, a project that was truly a labor of love and a journey full of learning and growth. While we’re not enjoying our gardens you’ll find us exploring the native bush, enjoying the sun at nearby beaches, or discovering new corners of this beautiful country. We hope our cabin becomes a place where you can unwind and enjoy the same peace and beauty that drew us to the Bay of Plenty. Follow our cabin journey from start to finish; search for Journeysrest on the iGram.
Rural Kiwi & Avacado Orchards. Generally very quiet and peaceful. Cannot hear any road noise. If around during the day you may hear orchard vehicles in operation. If you have time and fancy a bit of cake then you can always pop down to the extremely local KatiKati Bird Gardens. There is a cafe there and always open on the weekends. I’d normally go for a strange combo of muffin and chips. 👌 Parking here is free and can take a larger vehicle or camper. If you have an electric EV car then we have teamed up with DESTINATION CHARGE. They have provided a dedicated type 1 charge point where you park up. So no worries here! Park up so both you and your car can take a rest and recharge your batteries.
