Later, they had the idea to change it into holiday rentals in order to complete their wages. When their parents retired, Christine and Olivier gladly continued this business. With more than 10 years work in the tourism field in Reunion, Olivier loves this island. Olivier was born and grew up in Britanny, France. In 2002, he chose to come with his parents and moved to Reunion. They built the property and worked there until they retired. Christine is Reunionese. She comes from Mafate, "the Cirque only accessible on foot". She was born and grew up there. When Olivier set foot on the island for the first time, she has already left her birthplace for a few years to live in Cilaos Cirque. About ten years later, their ways crossed. Since then, they decided to walk together.

The area is green and surrounded by houses with gardens full of flowers, trees, fruit,... The surroundings look more like a creole village. All conveniences, shops, local restaurants, post office, are close. Les Hibiscus de La Rivière are directly on the road to the Cilaos Cirque, one of the top destinations.
