A wooden cabin on top of a hill, surrounded by forests and stunning nature. The cabin features a fully equipped kitchen and comfortable beds with a view in the upper floor. In front of the cabin, there is a spacious terrace for enjoying coffee, a spacious summer kitchen, a table, a firepit, and an outdoor solar shower. We also offer SUP (Stand-up paddle) free of charge as a bonus for the lake Rakitna. But most important what you will find here: Breathtaking views and tranquility in nature.
We look forward to meeting you as our guest, as you clearly share our appreciation for beautiful architecture and the feeling of living in harmony with nature.
We are proud parents of three lively children. Matjaž works as a Radiation Therapy Technologist in Oncology, and Ana works in a Procurement for a transformer company.
We enjoy spending time in nature, which is why we spent four years renovating a cottage in Rakitna, putting a lot of our energy and enthusiasm for the surrounding flora into the project.
We also love to travel, hike, cycle, ski, and take part in many other sports and activities.
Rakitna is known for its excellent climate and healing air. Many years ago, a health resort for children with respiratory issues and asthma was established here. The accommodation is a perfect starting point for exploring the surroundings, offering countless trails through unspoiled nature.
Nearby, you can find the marked Rakitna Educational Trail, which winds through pristine forests and leads to the remains of the Roman wall. In memory of the tallest mast, the Jambora Trail runs close by, near Lake Rakitna, where a beautiful wooden mast replica stands.
Just 400 meters from the accommodation, Lake Rakitna offers swimming, stand-up paddleboarding, fishing, and other water activities. Along the lake, there are stunning spots for relaxation and sunbathing. You can also take a walk to the center of Rakitna, where you'll find a restored livestock watering place next to the church.
For hiking enthusiasts, the area offers numerous easy and slightly more challenging peaks, all well-marked with signposts. Cyclists—whether MTB, road, or e-bike riders—will also find plenty of scenic routes, and I’ll be happy to share firsthand recommendations and tips.
You can also visit many nearby restaurants to fill up your bellies after an active day, and we can recommend many that we have personally tested.
By car, you can easily visit attractions such as Postojna Cave, Rakov Škocjan, Lake Cerknica, Ljubljana, Bled, and much more.
