Our apartment is situated in a less touristy part of Chaweng where majority of residents are local Thai people and not so many tourists (farangs). The great thing is that you get to experience how to live like a local. Shops and restaurants in the neighborhood offer food and produce for local people at affordable prices. The less great things are that you may have the odd noisy neighbor, dogs barking and cats fighting, occasional birthday party with loud karaoke music, and there may be trash in certain areas. Thailand is a tropical country and Thai culture tends to be noisier than western people, so expect the sound of life to be more vibrant than from what you may be used to. However, one tends to get used to the sound of daily life after a few days though. We live in another apartment in the same building, so we are most of the time there if you need any assistance. Chaweng beach is only 800 m away accessible by concrete road with sidewalk.
