Walking distance to swimming holes & hiking along the Merced River, 1 mi to the restaurants, market, golf course and horse stables, located at Big Trees Lodge, only 20 mi from Yosemite Valley! Experience the secluded serenity that only the south side of Wawona can offer! Everything you need for family & friends to enjoy REAL mountain living, with all the comforts of a modern home. JUST ADDED Central heating AND air conditioning December 2021! Wawona is located entirely within Yosemite National Park, as it preceded the founding of the park as a national recreation area. It has approximately 160 year-round residents! A popular story claims Wawō'na was the Miwok word for "big tree", or for "hoot of the owl", a bird considered the sequoia trees' spiritual guardian. Elevation is more than 4000 feet, and is right off State Route 41, the main route to Yosemite Valley!  The cabin has multiple smart tvs, several updated kitchen appliances, great patio furniture, a BBQ grill, and more! Bedding configuration is as follows: Bedroom #1- King Bed Bedroom #2- Queen Bed Bedroom #3- Full Bed Living Room- One pullout sofa and one trundle bed (which provides 2 twin beds) Pet Friendly. Pets cannot be left unattended at the home, must be kept off the furniture and bedding, and when outside must remain on a leash at all times, per county ordinance. Thank you! Please note: Indoor fireplaces AND outdoor fire pits are NOT allowed during county-wide burn bans, which often occur in the summer and fall months. This is due to heightened fire risk in the area at those times. Outdoor BBQ grills and propane fire pits are allowed year-round. California Highway Patrol may require chains and/or 4 wheel drive with snow tires during winter and spring months. Please prepare accordingly. Unfortunately, no refunds can be given for guest's lack of vehicle preparation.
