Slide open the glass doors and slip into the hot tub to a backdrop of amazing desert and mountain vistas. Created by architects Oller & Pejic, who later worked on the famous Desert Black House, this property was designed to harmonize with the surrounding landscape. It utilizes passive solar as well as solar panels to reduce your ecological footprint in this special place. That also means it's very comfortable in the summer desert heat.
I live in Los Angeles but spend as much time as I can escaping to the desert. It satisfies my interest in architecture and design and is my favorite place to relax. I have been renting out my personal vacation homes since 2010 and am not a property manager. I like to think that I take better care of my homes and am more attentive to guests than a management company would be. I truly hope you enjoy them as much as I do.
We are excited to offer this stunning 2200 square foot architect designed home. The peaceful and serene setting is emphasized when the sliding doors are all open and the living space feels like it's part of the desert.
"The site offers breathtaking views of Joshua Tree national park. Our goals were to design a simple, energy efficient house that nestled into the landscape and opened up to the view. Solar orientation drove the form of the building- in the summer the deep overhangs provide shade from the harsh summer sun and in the winter the sun pours in, heating the concrete slab floor. The materials chosen delineate the massing and their roughness is in harmony with the surrounding landscape." Oller & Pejic
