Although a few miles from the City Center of Hasselt, this should be a "must stay" destination. The B&B is stunning, elegant and eclectic. A family owns and runs the B&B and they couldn't have been more lovely - Katia (spelling?) is one of the owners and greeted us. It was a couple of flights of stairs to the room, but that is to be expected in an older home/mansion. The room was spectacular - especially the artwork. The wallpaper alone was worth the trip! Beautiful decor in the rooms and the public spaces. Breakfast was excellent - served by one of the daughters. All fresh and home-made. They even had car chargers - which was handy for the plug-in hybrid we rented for our trip. The city of Hasselt was a real surprise. We knew virtually nothing about it - we booked it because it was close to Maastricht. Turns out, we loved the city and had a full evening and the next day to explore. The son in the family that owns the B&B also has a bar in downtown Hasselt where we went for cocktails. We were surprised at how cosmopolitan and upscale Hasselt was. Great dining and shopping and great city to walk around. It's a real gem!

The hosts were very hospitable and went above and beyond in making our stay a very enjoyable one

Landhuisjes Bij De Wouterbron is set in a nature reserve in Opglabbeek and offers a secluded location, free access to a seasonal outdoor swimming pond and a restaurant. The host was very friendly and responsive; bed linen was not just provided but beds were made; everything was very clean; the kitchens of the larger houses were very well-equipped with all necessary material; kitchen towels and cleaning supplies were present; seats and beds were comfortable (on the relatively hard side - which I prefer but is personal choice of course). Very good location next to the nature reserve, easy to find and reach yet no sounds from traffic.

Hoeve Roosbeek features luxurious rooms, cosy gastronomy and free WiFi in a restored farmstead, 15 minutes’ drive from Sint-Truiden. It features a garden terrace, bicycle or vespa rental. I took an art class 2 1/2 miles from this location so it was perfect for a short bike commute. With global warming, it was nice to have air conditioning as an option because most small countryside places in Belgium don’t necessarily have air-conditioning..
