This massive fortress complex is perched high up on a hilltop. In fact, it takes nigh-on 1,000 steps to get up there – definitely worth the effort if you’re up to it. If you’re interested in the history of the place, read up on it beforehand as there are no guided tours available.

The welcoming from the host was warm and he was very accommodating to our needs throughout our stay. The apartment is great, big and tastefully decorated, with a cute terrace overlooking the pool and the Palamidi Fort in Nafplio. The breakfast was abundant, fresh and different everyday.
