Beautiful, and fascinating - lots to take in without preparing, so to get the most out of your precious 15 mk minute slot, read a little about it beforehand , otherwise you'll spend the first 12 minutes just in a daze at the beauty of it all!

Buy tickets in advance, or upon arrival in Padua, as the number of persons admitted is small, and limited to 15-minute timed periods {and entrance through an air lock in order to preserve the incredible Giotto frescoes}.

Book the double time in the evening if you can (Giotto under the Stars); this will give you 40 minutes in the chapel instead of the usual 20 minutes. Even 40 minutes was a bit too short! The Sistine Chapel is more well-known, but I enjoyed my time in the Scrovegni Chapel more.

It was wonderful!
It was wonderful! I had studied Art History in college and always wanted to see it. It did not disappoint! Painted in 1306 by the Master Giotto and his students. Giotto was the first to give paintings feeling. Yes, they are stiff, but have human emotions. See the angels at Christs death- they are torn up that Jesus is dead. One angel is marking her face with her fingernails! The parting of the lovers, I can feel how much they love each other and how much they will miss eachother.
The chapel is set in a QUIET park with modern artwork in the reception building and modern sculpture in the gardens.
In the back of the property is a cafe decorated with Italian Maidens- such a serene setting.

The location is perfect, about 12 mins walk from the station in a straight line; in the centre of the old town surrounded by restaurants; about 10 mins walk from the Scrovegni Chapel and the wonderful Giotto frescoes. The room was clean, air conditioned. There is a supermarket right by the front door (this is a positive), and no noise or disturbance at all because of double glazing. The relative proximity of the railway station meant day trips to Venice, Vicenza and Florence were very easy. Outstanding.

We've chosen the hotel because of its vicinity to Scrovegni Chapel, which is 15 minutes stroll we did next morning. Breakfast was plentiful and diverse in a spacious patio, the jacuzzi in a large bathroom eased our fatigue.

The size of the property was huge, the history of the building, the style, Hercules, ground floor and the staff were exceptional!! Breakfast was delicious. The gardens were beautiful. Change of towels and cleaning daily. Very quiet and peaceful and we could easily walk everywhere. The Scrovegni chapel was a 3 minute walk! Wonderful AC as it was hot outside.

I picked this hotel as it was just outside the historical centre with parking, although as it is in the conference and university area, I bagged the last parking place available on a Tuesday afternoon. It’s twenty five minutes walk to the Piazza delle Erbe in the centre, about the same to the Scrovegni Chapel and slightly less to the station with all the tram building works in the way. Room, breakfast and the one dinner I had were very good and there are fabulous views over Padova from the breakfast/dinner room on the 12th floor.

A comfortable and inexpensive family run hotel in an unbeatable location in Padua’s historic centre - just minutes away from St Anthony’s Basilica and within easy walking distance of the Scrovegni Chapel etc. Amazing decor, there really is art on every surface! Friendly and helpful staff, small breakfast room and garden. Comfortable bed, large clean bathroom. Quiet, safe area with a tram stop nearby - a quick, easy trip to the railway station.

The staff was very kind and helpful. The rooms were basic but spotlessly clean. The bed was comfortable. We enjoyed the wonderful rooftop sitting place and view. The hotel is a few minutes walk from the Scrovegni Chapel and not far from the train station.

Very nice hotel just next to Padova main station, just a 5 minute walk to the Scrovegni Chapel and 15 minutes to the main town squares, where you can find many dining opportunities. The breakfast is very nice as well. Rooms are heated well, so everything available for a nice winter break.

We liked very much the comfy beds, the heating in the room in a cold October weather, the varied and tasty breakfast . We also liked that with the nr.22 bus we could go directly to the centre of the city, next to Scrovegni chapel.
