Everything was beautifully presented, the dinner was definitely a highlight, and the views, quiet surroundings, and absolutely delightful library was top notch. I could have spent many more days reading and soaking in the serenity! The thoughtfulness of the dinner and breakfast, we were provided the story of each dish, made it greatly more enjoyable.

Massive apartment. A full family could stay there comfortably. I was lucky enough to have a fifth floor so a spectacular view. I sat in my room for hours looking out the window. The onsen downstairs is open until midnight and really nice. Best hotel I’ve ever stayed at.

    The temple is very beautiful; the pirate ships are...

    The temple is very beautiful; the pirate ships are remarkably kitsch. Don't linger till late if you plan on getting the bus back - the queues were substantial, and the prolonged wait required till after dark to finally get conveyed to Hakone-Yumoto station was bordering on a hypothermic episode. Take some warm gear and be prepared for a considerable delay.

    This ryokan-style hotel, where it is a bit obvious that it is not the newest, but that adds to its authentic atmosphere. A breathtaking combination of breakfast and dinner served directly to the room, sleeping on futons spread out on tatami and an absolutely amazing separate onsen with its own hot spring for men and women, available from 6:30 to midnight. The hotel itself is about 300 m from the cable car stop for trips to Lake Ashi.

    The rooms with private onsen are simply faboulous. Not only you get a mini apartment with a small bathroom and a stunning view of both Mt Fuji and Lake Ashi, but in the private onsen/shower room you have an additional large bathroom equipped with everything you may desire. The staff is extremely friendly, and the structure itself is stunning. The set dinner is delicious and is served in the most refined way possible.

    It was a great place for the price/being a hostel. I stayed in the all female-dorm and having to type in a code to get in made me feel safe. The bunk beds also each had their own privacy curtain and a comfortable comforter. There was a small bathroom area where the upstairs rooms were (sink and toilet room) - the window looking out at a torii was nice. The hostel is located right near Lake Ashi.

    The free Yunessan included in our stay was amazing. We spent all afternoon there both days. After being in Tokyo it was nice to have somewhere to go to relax instead of site seeing and walking all day. The buffet was amazing, so many Japanese and western options. The hotel was in a beautiful forresty area which made it so relaxing. The hotel is an easy bus ride to lake Ashi which is very worth seeing.

    Great experience staying in a traditional Japanese accommodation. Onsen felt clean and good temperature. Owners of the accommodation were the highlight - unbelievably kind and welcoming. The owner woke up at 6am to drive us down to lake ashi prior to our train meaning we were about to see Mount Fuji because of him!

    Very good and clean onsen. Room was big and spacious. The open-air bathtub is cool. View from the lobby is amazing when weather is good, and location is close to the Hakone ropeway and lake Ashi. The hotel provide shuttle from the hotel to Odawara station.

    It is a great location. It is perhaps one of the closest place to Lake Ashi therefore it was great in that way. They let us use the their sister hotel to drop off our luggages and we entered to the place hour earlier which was such a nice gesture thanks once again.

    the location was prime and the architecture felt like taking you back to 80s in japan. it was an authentic experience. the surrounding area of the hotel was exceptional, you had a direct access to lake ashi and could enjoy it all the time. the service staffs were all attentive and helping you to enjoy the stay more

    We love our stay at the Hotel Green Plaza in Hakone. We stayed in a Japanese Style room which was a great experience. The view from our room to Mt Fuji was simply spectacular. We enjoyed the Onsen which again had great views of Mt Fuji. The hotel was a short walk from the Ubako Rope Car station which gives you access to Lake Ashi. I highly recommend this Hotel
