The hotel is a modern 7 storey structure with views over the north and west of the city. Built in a traditional style, it is a family run business located on a quiet lane west of the busy Thamel tourist area. We spent a week there, with no particular itinerary, just walking, browsing and eating at backstreet nepalese, indian and chinese restaurants (which were all good, the chinese in particular providing a wide choice of regional foods from Tianjin, Shanghai and Lang Zhou). We found it a perfect place to use as a base for shopping in the nearby market streets and for walking out across the city to the Monkey temple, Kathmandu and Patan Durbars. The breakfast was really good with a choice of cooked and continental, massala chai, proper espresso-machine Americano coffee and eggs to order. The owners, Mina and Dolakh, are friendly and attentive, the rooms are clean and spacious, the roof terrace was a delight.

This hotel is an excellent choice for mid range hotel in central Thamel. Having stayed in Thamel on a few occasions this hotel is my far the best I stayed. It is very central location and within easy walking distance to all Thamel. The hotel is very reasonably priced and they offer free international airport pick-up and will also kindly drop you off if the driver is free. They provide luggage storage while ypu are outside Kathmandu and can also assist arranging treks and excursions. The rooms and hotel common areas are very clean, with decent Internet, hot showers and some some rooms have balconies. All floors have a outside terrace area. There is a good coffee deck also in reception area. The staff are very friendly and willing to help you during your stay, especially Yogush and Rajan whi even cooked me dinner on my last evening. I highly recommend Karma Hotel Nepal

    It was special beacuse it has a lot of history and different stores with beautiful paintings and other things to buy and take home but it was very dirty and there was many homeless people inside and around

    The place is absolutely fabulous by itself not least for the long stair climb demanded to reach it. this conglamaration of temples, capelas, halls and statues with clouds of incense floating by, bells ringing and chants of worshippers all around you. sadly however, most visitors nowdays are bored hindus interested mostly in taking selfies, feeding garbage to the monkeys or doing some tik tok challenge which certainly spoils the atmosphere but the place is still amazing.
