Great location, very friendly and helpful staff. The hotel offered a lot of extras for free during pur stay and made us feel trully welcome and comfortable. Breakfasts were delicious and accompanied by life music. The jacuzzi was perfect after the levada walks during the day

The View is the best! Night and day! We just couldn't get enough! The hotel has many facilities (it's also a spa after all). Beds were comfy, shower also nice. Breakfast was pretty good to start the day. The path going down to Curral das Freiras looks challenging, but it's entertaining and very much worth it (and back!).

Quiet place, good to rest outside of the noise. Thay have restaurant as well as spa inside and breakfast included in the price. Nice rooms. Overall great value considering the services. Beyond my expectations.

I was lucky to find one last room for 2 nights (even when booking two months in advance!) – we would have gladly stayed longer! A magical place – just about 15 minutes by car from Funchal, but the change of scenery is incredible! The hotel looks majestic, surrounded by lush greenery and flowers, and the evening mist adds a mysterious touch. The Monte Palace is right at the foot of the famous Monte Palace– it almost feels like the hotel is part of it! Our room was very nice (though the bathroom could use a bit of modernizing), and everything was spotless. Breakfast was very good – not a huge selection, but it was absolutely fine! The welcome glass of champagne at the bar was a lovely detail. The style and decor throughout the common areas of the hotel were also exceptional! Out of the 4 hotels we stayed at on the island, this one was our favorite – it’s the one I’ll be recommending to my friends and family!

I had a great stay at the Monte Mar Palace Hotel, the room is of high quality and very spacious. I particularly wonder how they manage to make the bed linen (embroidered with the hotel logo) so soft. I had a single room (with a view of the mountains) and I wonder how big they can get. The receptionist, Raimundo (who speaks English, French and German!), was really friendly and very helpful, giving me the walking tips I needed, which secured my next leg. Check-in went smoothly and I was immediately offered a pool towel with the recommendation to use the pools. The outdoor pool with sun loungers is beautiful with a paranomic view of the sea. The heated indoor pool with Jacuzzi is spacious. There is also a spa and a lobby area with large comfy sofas and even a mini-golf course, just infront of the pool if you fancy a go. The breakfast buffet is great - with lots of choice. As a side tip, just outside the hotel is Kare's Café, where I had a good portion of beef picado and toasted garlic bread, along with a pint of Carol! It may be a simple café but the service is amazing, the friendly young Maderian waiter speaks perfect English and was really helpful in explaining the drinks and food.

Food was delicious, it is very clean, peaceful, ther botanical garden is amazing, not crowded, spacious rooms…
