Ideal for nature-lovers looking for a self-sufficient getaway, lodges are fully furnished and self-catered. Usually made of wood and surrounded by forests or mountains, lodges can be part of a group or a single unit. More remote than holiday homes, lodges are popular for safari trips.

Communication regarding checking in and checking out was good (it was all via text, which suited me). My room was clean and comfortable. Whilst there was only a kettle and small fridge in the room, there was a communal full kitchen /dining area for meal prep (reminiscent of a hostel or ski lodge). Limited free on-site parking or alternatively street parking. The location was very quiet, away from busy roads and adjacent to bushland.
