We stayed in The Lodge, which has a very well-equipped kitchen and lots of nice furniture. So much space! Very comfortable beds. The bathroom (wet room) was quite basic but absolutely fine. Janice was a wonderful and gracious host, helping me with dinner recommendations and reservations, offering to drive us there, showing us walking trails nearby and providing us with fresh eggs for breakfast. Hosts Chris & Colin are the friendliest people we’ve met on our travels around New Zealand. It felt as though we’ve known each other for many years. The grounds are lovingly maintained. The family who run the lodge are super friendly and chatty. The kitchen area was quite quiet when I stayed but I still met a few nice travellers.
