Beautiful accomodation, amazing garden, very quiet and safe. We really enjoyed company of our hosts who shared with us many interesting things about life in South Africa. They also helped us with everything. We could even get litchi from their lichi tree :) We felt very welcomed and had a good time.

The property was beautiful, and the staff were incredibly kind and helpful. I fell ill during my stay, and they went above and beyond—helping me find a nearby doctor, offering advice, and even arranging a simple dinner based on my request. Their attention to small details truly made my experience a positive one. Huge thanks to Peter from the Zarafa and Lindo, our wonderful safari tour guide. I honestly don’t know what I would have done without their support. Kudos to the whole team!

As you can already see from the pictures, the place is simply stunning .. What we can add to that is that the attention to detail is on point, food is exquisite and service is world class. Dirk, as front of house, the chef and the staff all massively exceed expectations, leading us to very much agree with some of the reviews we read before visiting - namely that having visited many many places around the world, this one ranks at the very top!!

The house was built decades ago and the jungle has come back to reclaim the land, leaving a delightfully spooky, dark house set in gloomy woods, with ponds and swamp all round. At any moment I kept expecting the clock and the candlesticks to start singing. Sadly, Lumiere and Cogsworth were a no-show, but the house is lovely. Very spacious and well appointed, but dark, oh my god, it’s dark! Black wood and tobacco yellow walls, dim lighting, metal sculptures, eerie paintings – the house was decorated by Tim Burton! Hennie the caretaker was a delight to talk to, very congenial and helpful. He’s a real character and worth spending time with, although, out of character for the place, he’s not a hunchback 😊 The house is set in 40 acres of lime farm and nature reserve, and you’ll see Kudu’s as you drive in. If you’re lucky, Hennie will be able to spot Bush Babies for you in the evening. I was here alone but slept well despite the odd creak and groan as the house devoured the previous night’s guest. The staff were very friendly and attentive, and the breakfast a belly-busting three course meal. Wifi is good, but unfortunately only available in the lodge next door, so that’s a mild irritant if you like to work in bed. The lodge is separated from the house by a short walk past the swimming pool, and houses the dining room, bedrooms for tour group guests and an honor bar, which always gets a thumbs up from me. A 4-minute drive away is Tank’s Bush Pub, which serves cold beer and good food in a traditional Bush Pub, which you should experience when you’re in South Africa – beer and wings under a tarp, in the middle of nowhere.
