The estate is beautiful and has zebras, giraffes, kudu and more. George and Zelda are amazing hosts. The lodge is very nice. The rooms are spacious, modern and airconditioned. Without a doubt the best location we stayed at in our 3 weeks in South Africa. We booked a full day Gamedrive in Kruger with Khululeka and we were fortunate to see the big 5 in one day! It's truly a magical and special place.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Monkey Thorn Guest Lodge in White River. Rooms were huge and beds absolutely comfortable. We had dinner and breakfast twice and our whole family was blown away by the excellent service we received from the dedicated staff, especially from MC, who always went the extra mile and fulfilled every one of your wishes instantly. Many thanks again, MC! Food was delicious and we were really glad we'd decided to eat at the lodge. We would have stayed longer if we could have and we really hope to stay there again some time near. You really won't find a better place to stay at!

Breakfast was amazing seated outside with the bird life, Our evening was beautiful, spent on the patio enjoying the sun set and then a beautiful fireplace to warm ourselves, quiet, serene and tranquill. Everything. Staff were friendly, helpful and courteous. Very clean. A special mention to 'penguin', who gives marvellous massages. I advise anyone to make sure you get a massage with her. Great seeing the animals wandering around, saw two giraffes wandering around early morning too. Lovely place would definitely recommend to anyone. Only about 15-20 mins from Nelspruit and most tours will come there to pick you up. Food was lovely.

This is an excellent choice when staying in White river or if you would like to stay outside of the Kruger Park. Highly recommended. Their attention to detail is exceptional. A beautiful garden, lovely pool, fantastic lapa, great beds, excellent coffee and more....

We loved being on the water with the resident hippos. There was a large area in which we could walk around. The locals were very welcoming and invited us to watch rugby on TV with them. The manager was warm and helpful.
