We asked for a large bed,a bath ,a view, and to book us for 3 main meals.The room was ideal,a table and seating area,to set up treats for Christmas,very quiet on a night,which was great.The food in the resteraunt was exceptional quality.The staff were polite and efficient and productive.We would definitely tell our friends of this gem.

The location was perfect for our plan to explore Hadrian’s wall. Our hosts were knowledgeable about the location and amenities and helped us secure dinner reservations as well as giving us directions to the local interesting locations. The atmosphere was great, the decoration and history of the building was unique. The staff, the ambiance and the food were superb! We had such an enjoyable time, if anything not long enough to soak it all in. Having a tour after breakfast was a great extra we didn’t know was available on booking, and we learnt so much about the castle. The History leaflets made for great reading as well. The room guard is another wonderful little touch. We stayed in the Derwentwater Room (room 1), and what a room it was! Highly recommend for anyone to stay and we hope to be back to try out another room.
