This hotel is a perfect hidden gem in a discreet village that gave us a real flavor of Japan, far from the crowds. The building is beautiful, a restauration of the original monks dormitory, and every detail is perfectly simple and charming. Makiko is the greatest host, she was helping us in everything, from dinner reservations to forgotten items. The gentleman who greeted us in the evening was also most kind and helpful. It was such a moving stay and we are deeply thankful.

Everything from the stay to the host. Hiro-san was very accommodating and communication was done via Google Translate 😂 nevertheless we were able to understand each other pretty well. Stink bugs were one but we made it into a family adventure of sorts.

We really loved our stay here! Our hostess was darling and her home a charming country stay. It was a lovely treat to discover the hot bath tub to use after showering for a somewhat Onsen-like experience. The fish cooking around the fire, the hot water bottles and kerosene heaters really take you out of modern life. The futons were the most comfortable we slept on in two trips to Japan. The silence of Ainokura at night magical! We arrived by bus, it was just a short walk from the highway to the village. As we arrived just before 3 from Kanazawa we could check in and explore at our leisure enjoying just birdsong and rushing water.

The breakfast was superb! We had dietary restrictions which the hotel enquired about before and the meal they provided was so memorable and good. The location is in a very quiet neighbourhood. The apartment itself was so beautifully designed and curated - we thoroughly loved what they did to make an old building look so modern and tasteful. The staff were very helpful as well, we had a wonderful check-in experience.

The best thing about this place is the people. Wonderful family is running this small cozy Inn along the road to Shirakawa-go from Toyama. We could not find affordable Inn in Shirakawa-go, so we chose this one just 40 minutes away. Very nice rooms decorated with good taste and comfortable. Toilet and sink are available in the room and the traditional bath separately for men and women is located downstairs. It was interesting to try it. Very helpful and friendly family members were willing to communicate and give us advice. And great meals were served with care and in a traditional way. We enjoyed our one night stay there a lot. Thank you :)

A very peaceful stay here. Large rooms and the onsen is very relaxing! The breakfast is very good too! There's even a large sunflower field just at the parking lot area of the hotel. But not sure if the sunflower field be there next year.
