This place was beautiful, from the moment we arrived. Everything we needed was there, the facilities were divine (loved the shower!) and the views were to die for. So easy to get into, and close to everything.

The setting is absolutely phenomenal, with a spacious sun deck offering breathtaking views of Kaka Point Beach. It’s also conveniently close to Nugget Point and the Catlins, making it a perfect spot for exploring the area. Mike’s attentiveness and efforts to ensure a smooth late check-in were greatly appreciated. The pricing is very reasonable, making this a fantastic value for the location and amenities.

Best location & marvellous view from room. Could sit on sofa & see the ocean. Very modern & clean & conveniently next door to pub (which closes early so no noise at night). Parking spot right next to accomodation.

Spectacular restored Victorian decor—lots of room; comfortable bed; excellent communication with host; easy access to Catlins area. On the host's recommendation, we dined at the Lumberjack cafe (reservations required) - a truly spectacular meal. Overall, great value for the money.

We were just looking for a nice accommodation after a couple weeks of hiking and little did we know that we would receive a real treat. The property is maintained with so much love for detail, we felt so much at peace winding down with that birdsong all around. Honestly, it was nearly like a Bridgerton movie set. The breakfast is absolutely fantastic (the home made fruit loaf is divine) and the sauna was just what we needed for our sore muscles. Highly recommend a stay at the Fern and Thistle, we had a wonderful time. The bathroom is not ensuite which was communicated to us beforehand and was not an issue at all.
