We absolutely loved our stay in The Lady Maxwell Room at Buittle Castle. The level of attention to detail the owners have put into decorating each room, designing the garden, and restoring the castle is incredible and makes the experience all the more special. It was so nice to learn from James about the history of the land and their ancestors. There is plenty of parking, the bed was comfortable , it's near some lovely towns with great restaurants and there appears to be a resident peacock. He was beautiful! Breakfast was delicious and the presentation was delightful. We would stay again in a heartbeat.

Great lodge spotlessly clean with everything you'll need for a perfect stay. Good quality furniture and beds. Wonderful to watch the wildlife. So peaceful but within easy distance to the town. The owners were so helpful with a small issue we had and was resolved quickly.

The Maxwell Arms was the perfect hotel for me on this occasion. It was a last minute decision to travel to Scotland to celebrate my mothers birthday. Seamless booking with a very welcoming reception on arrival. The room was more than adequate in size for a single room, clean, comfortable with tea and coffee facilities and top off with a hot, powerful shower in a very respectful bathroom. In addition, there's a bar next door to the accomodation with friendly staff frequented by welcoming locals enjoying the chat of the day. Value for money, the Maxwell Arms is off the scale. Fantastic!

The accommodation was immaculate and so homely! I've never been somewhere that is so well stocked. There were so many little extras provided that we weren't expecting. It was spacious and allowed us to gather as a family. Communication with the owner was excellent. Location was brilliant, tucked out of the way but within a short drive to amenities! Absolutely loved our stay.

The owner, Kate, was absolutely lovely and made my stay perfect. The breakfasts had so much choice and Kate provided me with Oatmilk for my coffee. The Scottish smoked salmon with scrambled egg was excellent. Room had everything you could need and all clean. Easy free car parking right outside.

    Very comfortable and modern room and bathroom. It has some lovely views and the food was excellent! The outdoor seating was great. There’s a lovely ice cream shop just a ten minute walk from the hotel. Nice location looking out to the sea and great for going out walks and it’s pet friendly. Staff were very nice and friendly and helpful.

    Beautiful location and our room had a perfect view of the Firth. Staff were super friendly from the moment we arrived and really made our stay memorable. We have a wee dog and the Anchor caters well for your furry friends. Our room wasn't fancy but it was clean and comfortable with stunning views which is exactly what we were looking for. We would happily stay here again and will definitely be back.

    The staff were cheery and helpful. Breakfast was good. Location was fantastic, lovely views. Room and bathroom clean and comfy and warm (radiator you could turn on). Dog friendly. Good location to travel round a lovely part of the country. Food, very good portions.
