Huge, traditional room, with tatami mats, dinning space and private bathroom. Great onsen we had to ourselves. Traditional Japanese breakfast was big and very tasty. Hotel is located in the middle of nowhere, but for us it was a plus.

The hosts were very friendly and helpful, Hanako collected me from the bus stop and drove me back the next day! I got to eat homemade dinner with both of them which was very yummy! The location is so beautiful and there’s a yummy cake shop just a 1 minute walk away. The guesthouse itself is quite small but the room given is very large and comfortable.

Kei’s place is his family’s traditional Japanese home, and we were blessed to be able to stay there. It’s located in a quiet neighbourhood but you can reach all main streets by train as the stops are all located nearby. The wooden architecture of the house and the surrounding garden give it such a dreamy appearance, a fireplace, traditional futon bed and perfectly equipped kitchen for tea and coffee invite the guests to unwind and enjoy the peace. On top of this, Kei himself is as impressive as his grandparent’s place. Not only he welcomed us making us feel like we were returning home, but on our last night there, he brought all the ingredients for Okonomiyaki and made dinner for all of us. The whole time we felt like we were old friends, and it’s a beautiful quality Kei holds. We will never forget our time at Maison d’hôtes, and we are forever grateful to Kei whom we hope to welcome soon in Germany. On this note, Kei is not a host, he’s your friend.

Close to 户隐神社, only 20 mins drive there. Family atmosphere, quiet, nice and cozy. Decorations around the house are lovely. All rooms have water heating panels. Beddings are very comfortable.
