The cottage is beautifully decorated with a lot of care. It truly feels like a home away from home. There were six of us, and the space was more than enough for everyone to feel comfortable. The owner was incredibly warm and welcoming, and even went out of their way to help us make a dinner reservation — we really appreciated that kind gesture. The place is also very well-equipped with everything we needed. We only stayed for one night this time, which felt far too short. Hopefully, we’ll have the chance to come back and stay for a few more days next time. Overall, this stay went beyond my expectations. Highly recommended!

The property itself was wonderful, had everything we needed and felt like home. Our trip was focused on taking advantage of Aso's beautiful nature and the cottage's location allowed us to do this. It was also great to know that there was a large bath to use after the hike to soak our tired legs!

We chose Kikuchi instead of Kumamoto, to get away from the city before our trip to Mt Aso. We got a lovely country house, but the main benefit was the lovely couple who hosted us. Super friendly and helpful. I enjoyed breakfast, my wife skipped hers, so the host packed it as a bento box for our lunch. Vegetables from the garden. A guided visit to the forest to see fireflies. Tastes of local food and drink. It was if we were lodging with my favourite aunt and uncle.

Really amazing house and location. We didn't walk to the nearby onsen town, but it is walkable (a bit of a hill), and there are many walking trails around the house. This house has a fence for dogs but we didn't travel with pets and found it made a great yard for our kids to play. The onsen bath in the house is great and there is plenty of space.

The view is beautiful. The place is very calm. We went by car, parking is in front of the building. We cheked-in late (21h30) and the host welcomed us! The lady was very kind and helpfull. Even if she doesn't speak english and us neither speaking japonese we understand each other very well!
