Modern and beautiful hotel. All the facilities you’ll require during your stay are right there ready to use. Breakfast, pool and spa were fantastic and the bed was extremely comfortable. Easy access to train station/ski lift. The hotel is located down the hill but it’s an easy walk up or there’s a bus that can take you up. Would love to come back one day and will definitely recommend.

They automatically reserve the table according to room number. She had no problem going the extra mile to ensure guests were satisfied. After our stay at the hotel, we can state the same for all staff members. Falkensteiner Schlosshotel Velden is a textbook example of top hotel service and a source of inspiration for all hotels developing their luxury offer. The Aquapura SPA Wellness Centre stretches a staggering 3600 square metres and is undoubtedly one of the most prestigious in this part of Europe. A rich offer includes an indoor and outdoor pool, a panoramic sauna in the garden and a relaxation space with water beds and a SPA cinema. Falkensteiner Schlosshotel Velden is absolutely one of the most prestigious hotels within the Falkensteiner portfolio. Similarly to a world-class athlete, it faces the task of beating its own standards and thus retaining its spot among the best in the hotel industry. When we last evaluated the hotel, the Falkensteiner hotel group had only started managing it. Today, it is in peak performance and is ageing almost as well as the finest Bordeaux wines. Upon checking in, we were provided with a Berchtesgaden card each, which provided us with free transport in the area and discounts at multiple attractions, we were also provided a map and booklet showcasing the attractions accessible with the card. Our room was perfect, plenty of space, and a balcony with seating area. The room was cleaned on each of the four days we stayed and the cleaning staff were very friendly when we bumped into them in the corridors. Breakfast was fantastic, with a full continental range on offer, some hot cooked items, and a hot drinks machine. As for location, it couldn't be any better situated unless it was on the lake itself, it's less than a minute walk to the ferry terminal, very close to lots of paths for any walkers, and 5 minutes walk from the bus station if you want to use your Berchtesgaden card to tour the local area. I would also highly recommend eating in the hotel restaurant in the evening at least once. The venison goulash had so much flavour, and is my favourite meal of our 2 week tour of Germany and Austria, and the boiled beef was great too!

The venue was fantastic. Our room was spacious, comfortable and absolutely relaxing. The bathroom was amazing. Breakfast was also excellent. Offered many options. Getting to the pools was super easy and we had unlimited daily pass so we would go twice a day. The pool area was also amazing. There were so many options and so many things to do. Able to cover all tastes and needs. Also, had dinner in the hotel all night and the restaurant was also excellent. We loved the place and we would also love return soon.

The hotel is great, in an outstanding location and there is an exit from it to an amazing forest trip, but the main thing is the staff who go above and beyond and make sure I feel as if I am the only guest in the hotel. Stayed for 3 nights - perfect amount of time to see the sights. Definitely recommend the original sound of music tour. We were there for the start of the Christmas markets- not too busy as it was the start of the season. The day after we arrived it snowed making our trip magical in every way.

Innsbruck is full of character - there are some beautiful...

Innsbruck is full of character - there are some beautiful old buildings there. I love the fact that when you look up you can see the mountains which are awe inspiring! It's worth doing a guided tour around the city. Take the 'train' up to see the Bergisel ski jump, and get off and visit the zoo. The view from the top is worth the ride. Ambras castle is a very interesting place and can be reached easily by public transport. There are a few museums and galleries that you can investigate depending on what interests you. The Golden Roof is small but you must see it and also the Triumphal Arch. There are also some very nice boutiques if you like shopping for clothes. Innsbruck has a good selection of cafés and restaurants to cater to everyone's tastes. It's my favourite Austrian city!

We were there for a quick trip, ostensibly to go to Jungfraujoch, which was a fantastic day trip. We spend the other day exploring Interlaken, which is such a gorgeous town, and going up Harder Kulm to the lookout.

Trento is a beautiful city surrounded by mountains. There are many quaint streets, plazas and areas to visit. A visitors pass is included in the tourist tax which gives you free travel on buses and the cable car. The centre is very walkable, great place to visit.

Bolzano is a perfect spot for exploring the lower reaches of the Dolomites with very good train connections to Verona, Venice, Innsbruck and beyond. The old town is gorgeous to walk around and off course the must see attraction of The Bolzano Iceman. Otzi, 5300 year natural Mummy should be number 1 on the 'cannot be missed list'

Lugano is wonderful and a total paradise for cyclists! I come here all the time, I could not recommend more. Amazing routes around Lago di Lugano, Maggiore, Como… Delicious bakeries for tasty treats and refuelling whether Alpe di Neggia and Luino side or Menaggio Como side! Superb hotels and restaurants in Lugano to enjoy post-ride, also lovely chic (not sports) shopping! Absolutely recommend, but definitely prioritise Lugano Centro and lakeside, more expensive but so so worth it (Paradiso or inland horrible)

Zermatt was a very lovely walkable village. We thoroughly enjoyed the trip up to Mt Gorenat and the Glacier Paradise. Both trips are amazing and should be taken. Then wander the village and enjoy the buildings and the views.

Chamonix is an absolutely stunning resort town—vibrant yet serene, with breathtaking mountain views in every direction. We loved how easy it was to explore the trails, enjoy great food, and slip into that relaxed alpine pace. Whether you’re hiking, skiing, or simply soaking in the scenery, Chamonix has a way of making every day feel special. We can’t wait to return.

After visiting bigger towns, Montreux was a refreshing quieter cousin. Made the most of the Montreux travel pass. Allowing free bus and train travel as far as Vervey. I would suggest when travelling by train further afield to get help from the ticket office, as this will save you money. The free Queen Studio tour is worth a visit, located in the Casino. Boat trips are a must, we did a circular 2.5 hr one and it was worth paying the small amount extra for the first class. Chateaux Chillon is worth a visit, and only a 40 minute stroll back to the town, along the beautiful shore of lake Geneva.

This is one of those towns you need to keep coming back to.

This is one of those towns you need to keep coming back to. We love GP for a weekend getaway. We always ride the train in and get around by foot (or bus) after we're there. Go in every season...there's always something wonderful to experience.
