The main advantages: Location: The hotel offers plenty of options for hiking around the area. The nearby town with ski lifts, Mayerhofen, is easily accessible by car, bike, or on foot. The E-bike rental service works perfectly, allowing you to reach nearby tourist attractions without the need for long hikes. -Service: Each day, the hotel provides different activity ideas in a "daily newspaper." For those who prefer guided tours, there are plenty available almost every day. Additionally, yoga lessons and sauna activities make the stay even more enjoyable. -Beds: The beds were a real treat! Unlike the uncomfortable gap in the middle that you find in 90% of hotels, these beds were true double beds, making the stay feel more like being at home. -Entertainment options: The room's TV is preinstalled with apps like Netflix, Amazon, and YouTube, allowing guests to watch whatever they like. This feature is not commonly found in hotels and was truly appreciated. Though the overall experience was fantastic, there are a few minor points that could be improved: -Sauna: It would be great to have one sauna designated for guests who prefer to wear swimwear or use towels instead of going naked. This option would make the facility more inclusive and accommodating. -Wine prices: While the wine selection is excellent, the prices are a bit on the higher side. The perfect Zillertal base — charming, active, and full of alpine character. Mayrhofen is a gem in the heart of the Zillertal Alps — both lively and surrounded by breathtaking scenery. My favorite spot in town was the central square with the iconic ibex statue and the beautiful alpine church, perfect for soaking in the mountain vibe. I enjoyed traditional Tyrolean meals at local guesthouses, and the hut-style restaurants in the surrounding mountains are worth the hike. Breakfast at my hotel was exceptional, and the Zillertal beer is a must-try after a long day outdoors. Getting around is easy — everything in town is walkable, and the Zillertalbahn train makes exploring the valley simple. For solo travelers like me, Mayrhofen is ideal: scenic hiking trails start right from town, there’s an excellent pool & spa complex (Erlebnisbad), and plenty of cafés and beer gardens to meet people or just relax. The house is perfectly located fir skiers as it is at the route of G1 skibus so it ics convenient to get to the rwo cable cars: Moslbahn or Horbergbahn. no good restaurants, in the town on the other side of river was outdoor pool, playgrounds for kids and sport center. good staring point if you want to ride bike in alps. good bus and train connection. I've been to Mayrhofen many times over the years.
I've been to Mayrhofen many times over the years. On top of the magnificent views and mountains, I always recommend it particularly on the size of the town. There are plenty of shops, restaurants and hotels in the centre, which give plenty of options if you ever should get a bad weather day. If you are there for a few days, the Active Card is well worth getting. The ski area has a good range of slopes for novice/intermediates. If you are a total beginner there are better areas to start your skiing adventures. The best slopes in our opinion are a few runs and ski lifts away from the ascent via the Penkenbahn but are so worth it. Ahorn is good for an easy accessible confidence boost run or 2 and has some fun areas for the children. Hintertux glacier is a good day out and free bus available but can be super busy. We flew in to Innsbruck and then took the train to Mayrhofen for the first time and it was super easy and good value.Guest review byNikkiUnited Kingdom
