We loved everything about Gasthof Maria Plain! We had no idea where it was located in relationship to Salzburg, but we had admired the church from the road as we came in. Imagine our surprise when we saw we were going up that hill towards the church. Parking was easy & convenient. The second surprise is that the hotel had its own charming Christmas market. The rooms were clean & comfortable, & every room had a breathtaking view. The fact that we arrived after a big snow storm just added to the beauty. It was a short & inexpensive cab ride to central Salzburg. The restaurant had a good menu, great food & reasonable prices. Breakfast was very nice. The staff were very friendly & helpful. We will be back next spring!

The hotel is as perfect as it gets. The location was perfect as everything was close by including the airport (5 minutes away). The hotel itself was very clean and had amazing facilities provided. The customer service level was incredible, especially from Steffie, who had checked us in and gave a tour of the hotel.     The Ebner's Waldhof am See Resort & Spal has very spacious family rooms. The spa area, especially the heated pool, is magnificent. You can come to lunch in a terry robe straight from the spa area. I really liked the food - a large variety of tasty and healthy food - you can even make your own smoothie from apples, carrots, sellerei and ginger. For dinner, you can choose from several menus, including vegetarian cuisine. Dinner dishes are served and decorated at the level of Michelin 5 stars. Every day the hotel has a new plan of events. The hotel is run by a family, their care and attention are present in every corner of the hotel. The atmosphere in the hotel is very warm, welcoming and friendly.

    Simply ...everything. The glorious room on the lake, the fabulous christmas decorations, the cosy but elegant interiors, the superb food, (bfast lunch and oh my god the dinner!!) the staff members: an army of professional hard working people! the breath taking views, the perfectly maintained and lovely corridors, the sofas, the decorations outside. Even the lifts had impeccable lights and information. And there was also a "daily mail" related to Zell and hotel activities for the day. Simply wow. Even though I have travelled alot and been to fabulous hotels ...the Grand Hotel at Zell am See has now shot up to FIRST place no doubt. Well done to all the team. Thankyou for filling my soul with joy.

    The most enjoyable experience was the visit to Hohensalzburg...

    The most enjoyable experience was the visit to Hohensalzburg fortress. To really see it properly, I would advise going in the morning, bringing a picnic or snack and spending a few hours there...there is so much to see. Other highlights were the organ recital in Salzburg Cathedral and visiting so many spectacular churches.... St Peter's church was a favourite and the Jesuit church was quite a surprise...so much colour! The Mirabelle gardens were lovely to stroll in and also the walks along the riverside. We were sorry not to get to Schonbrunn Palace, but hope to return to Salzburg, when that will be our No. 1 priority.

Would advise when booking accommodation that you book somewhere that includes the summer card as this gives you free access to all the gondolas in the area and free travel on local buses and trains plus discounted entry to many activities and saves you a lot of money.

    A very beautiful destination, we were alone on the mountain ridges most of the time. We would definitely like to return. For swimming, we recommend the lake in Zell am See rather than the local swimming pool, which is quite small and completely crowded.

    A village in beautiful scenery that lacks something. Accessibility of services (hiking, lifts, restaurants) was a bit confusing. Many services did not have clear English instructions/price lists/online shops. The Tyrolean region summer card seemed to give you a much wider range of services than the Salzburger region.

    Bad Gastein is an amazing mix of natural beauty and old-world charm, surrounded by stunning mountains and lush forests. In winter its a fantastic skiing area, and since its over 1000 meters elevated they usually have a long skiing season. In summer its great for hiking! There’s so much to do, from relaxing in the famous thermal spas to exploring endless hiking trails with breathtaking views.

    Gorgeous view of mountains, great place for nature-lovers, you can spend there some quality time both in winter & in summer. Hallstatt, Zell am See, Dachstein are only 1 hour drive from Wagrain. Be aware of toll roads & tunnels (above the motorway fee). If you are travelling with kids, they will enjoy the Hermann Maier Freizeitpark in Flachau (ca 15-20 mins drive from Wagrain). You should check out the opening schedule of supermarkets and restaurants, eg. after 9 PM, you might not find any open places or restaurants could have their own break days.

Plenty of memories, plenty of relaxation, plenty of beautiful and peaceful sceneries, and every year people are being nicer and sweeter. The town keeps developing and renovating that can be noticed in every visit.

    Sankt Johann is a clean and beautiful town with gorgeous views of the mountains. Walked to visit the town center for breakfast at Bäckerei-Cafe-Konditorei Bauer. We visited Liechtensteinklamm just before they closed. It was the best time to visit the gorge.

    Golling is a long established small town on the Salzach...

    Golling is a long established small town on the Salzach river and a good base for exploring Salzburg and the nearby hills / mountains. Hotels are in the small town centre plus camping and camper van facilities nearby. Rail travel to Salzburg and on buses in Salzburg is free for holders of the Tourist Card issued without further charge to people staying at Golling hotels, This facility has recently been extended to other buses and trains over a wider area, Golling Waterfall and the canyon (Klamm) on the Salzach river attract visitors, There is a Water Park close to Golling.
