- Scored out of 10, guest rating 9.4Superb - What previous guests thought, 131 reviewsGrampians Pioneer Cottages are a real gem near Halls Gap @ the heart of the Grampians. We stayed here for the second time - this time with our family. We loved the cosy and beautifully furnished cottage, equipped with all you need to make your stay comfortable and nestled in superb, wild nature. We admired the visit of many kangaroos, emus, birds … who were literally at our doorstep, enjoyed the fabulous fireplace in the evening. What an unforgettable experience. We hope we can come back again soon. We can highly recommend this place. You will not regret it.Guest review bySylviaThailand
- From US$116.26 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.3Very good - What previous guests thought, 630 reviewsWe stayed here on a Saturday night because we were doing one of the local ghost tours in town. They were currently in the middle of a renovation when we stayed, but that didn’t bother us. We were in a newly renovated room and it was really good. Nicely done, great bathroom, good amenities and the service was good too. The location is great because it’s a two minute walk from the main street with good local shops and restaurants. I would recommend staying here if you need somewhere in Ararat.Guest review byAndrewAustralia

Kangaroos and cockatoo”s outside the property at dawn and dusk. Simon the owner was an excellent proprietor and the embodiment of a friendly Aussie. Set in breath taking scenery. We loved it. I just stayed one night going through Horsham so cannot comment on except to say I did go across to the Victoria hotel for dinner and found the meals were very good and reasonable cost. Would certainly go there again.Guest review byVicAustralia - 8.0
The Zoo and McKenzie Falls were highlights for us.
The Zoo and McKenzie Falls were highlights for us. Both are definitely worth doing. There are also several very good restaurants and a nice brewery pub. We only were there for an overnight stay, but could have stayed longer.Guest review byTimroyAustralia - 8.0
Liked the Wannon Waterfalls within 20 minutes of the town.
Liked the Wannon Waterfalls within 20 minutes of the town. Unfortunately, the other one was closed for repairs and signage was not used to inform travellers. So many people, including me would have driven many kms out of their way from either end of the access road to the falls. Why didn’t the authorities who had approved the repairs to Nigretta Falls consider the impact and waste of fuel for many tourists over the many months this site has been closed? There are some great bluestone old churches and Victorian style houses with great iron lace work in the township. The Information Centre is stylish and well presented with helpful staff.Guest review byGraemeAustralia - 10.0

Ararat is a lovely town in itself and has everything you need, town hall, art gallery, many shops, antiques, eating places, gift shops, swimming pool, indoor and out, recreation, park, drives up to Halls Gap and tourist attractions areas. Didn't like the mess and Barracks much, it was cheap and very pub style.Guest review byMareeAustralia - 8.0

Lake Tyrell was absolutely amazing - I’m sure you could visit everyday and see something different! Sea lake is a pretty little town with friendly locals and a great pub for meals. Green Lake is another little hidden gem in the area. Silo art was great - especially being lit up at night. Really enjoyed our time in Sea Lake.Guest review byAnonymous - 6.0

A few pubs at Nhill, however the recommended place was shut for Sunday dinner unfortunately. Owner was helpful however and suggested a couple of alternatives (the only alternatives in Nhill!!!) Not much there but a friendly town halfway between Adelaide and Melbourne. Think there was a bakery but that was closed. The IGA was open thank goodness.Guest review bySuzyQ17Australia - 8.0

It is a fascinating town, old goldfields, amazing 19thC architecture, good caravan park. For us it's been a transit overnight being halfway between Adelaide Hills Home and Falls Creek, with numerous trips to family winter and summer last 12 or so years. Worth a longer stay but ...circumstances... A shout-out to the Farmers Arms Hotel for good pub food on a Sunday evening!!Guest review byTim FatchenAustralia - 10.0
So much to do in town and the area.
So much to do in town and the area. Charming town, friendly locals, excellent food at Victoria Hotel, & Cat Clarke's restaurant which featured local produce & bush tucker. Lake Tyrell and the silo art in the area are well worth your time!Guest review byMichaelAustralia - 10.0

Brilliant sample of country Victoria/Australia; genuine warm country welcome amid towering gums, native bushlands, great birdlife and cute animals. The easy walk through bushland to town delivers great food, sensational wine list and great morning coffee. ...and I'm a professional tour guide showing tourists around, so I'm a well-informed "purchaser"Guest review byLuigi De SotoAustralia
