It was just an overnight stop returning from Canberra.
It was just an overnight stop returning from Canberra. The city is relatively large and sprawling and difficult to navigate with compulsory turns etc. Signs pointing to "i" information were confusing, but after I gave up looking for it, I found that it was in the library and quite helpful for maps and brochures of things to do. For someone not familiar with the area, Wodonga (over the river) is much easier to navigate. In the evening I had dinner at the pizza restaurant (in the main street of Albury), but they also have pastas, mains, salads etc, and I was happy with my choice. The following morning I went to Gateway Island, on the Victorian side of the river, planning to do the 4-5 km Gateway Island trail, but actually ended up doing the Crossing Place Trail just over the road which was also 4-5 km with sculptures and information along the river bank.Guest review byHelenAustralia - 10.0
A great range of places to visit !
A great range of places to visit ! Rio Vista is a time capsule of living in the past and well worth the visit. The Botanical Gardens were a lovely place to walk and enjoy native plants as well as examples from other continents. The map was easy to follow. It would be even more spectacular in Spring . Walking by the Murray was very tourist friendly- great paths and excellent cafe. A great range of take away foods are available if you don't want to eat out . Delicious food from the Afghan Grill, Bakery and other Cafes Red Cliffs was worth the drive too !Guest review byElizabeth - 10.0

Really enjoyed our hour long cruise on the “Canberra” Paddle Steamer. The American Hotel was a lovely experience with live music and great food. Lots of fantastic places to eat, any time of the day. Wodonga is the more upmarket side of the NSW/Victoria border. It lacks much in the way of heritage, with only the old railway station (now a trendy cafe area) as any real form of architecture. I come up for the Echuca blues Festival but prefer to stay in Moama its a nice quiet Town and only a few Klm to Echuca, has changed a lot since the 70s. About $20.00 for a cab into Echuca. Should have a bus running constant for the Blues fes as parking can be a nightmare. The Blues bus runs on the Saturday only which I think is free. Actually, there is not much in Mulwalla except a lot of accommodation, mainly around the Lake. The main town, Yarrawonga, is on the Victorian side of the bridge connecting the two. The main activities in the area centre around the fresh water lake: fishing, swimming, canoeing, water skiing. It’s quieter, historic and recognises its place in history, surrounded by natural beauty and has new and developing places to eat and drink.
