Baku is a city of contrasts.
Baku is a city of contrasts. It is fast growing and there are loads of modern facilities but also on the edges still lots of areas of Soviet mass housing. The roads in the central area are very busy and even more so during my visit as they were preparing for the F1 Grand Prix. It is worth using the metro to get around the central area and it doesn’t take long to realise that trains basically run along a corridor before going out to the various residential areas.Guest review byBlairUnited Kingdom - 10.0

I hate to say this, but Baku is wonderful and shockingly under-touristed. The city blends the historic in one part of town, with ultra-modern architecture in a different part of the city, maintaining an appropriate level of separation between the two. The people are amazing friendly and helpful. The food is quite good. There are very interesting sights just outside of the city. And, if all that were not enough, the place is not crowded with other tourists at all. It's an undiscovered gem.Guest review bySpretnakUnited States
