    The hotel is situated in a quiet area. There are parking places. The rooms are clean, big enough. It is a spa zone with indoor pool and also an outdoor pool. At ground floor it is a playground zone for children. The personnel are very friendly. The breakfast was a lot, good and varied. In the future when we need an accommodation in the area we will stay for sure at Rila Hotel. We strongly recommend the Hotel Rila.

    Love this place! By far, my favourite hotel to go to with my 3-year-old son. The staff is lovely! They have become like an extended family to me. Rooms are spotless clean. Playgrounds are well equipped - both inside and outside. There is a small slope behind the hotel perfect for sledging in the winter. Great lunch menu. Plenty of nature walks to pick from.     It is a magical remote location situated in an amazing forest.Clean, fresh air and beautiful forest of tall pine trees. Very well maintained and cute surroundings. It is not exactly a village but a remote location with few mountain hotels .Perfect for hiking to the Seven Rilla Lakes or other less difficult hikes.You need a car for sure but there are also buses from Sofia passing through.The lift is far for a walking distance .It is around 6.5 km from there.

    Kyustendil is small town but beautiful and with many things to do there. You can go to the Osogovo mountain to ski, or to hike, there is a breathtaking views on the top. Nice places to eat are: Chainata, Tihiat kut, Hotel Ramira, Mayorskata kushta and ect. Visit the museum of Vladimir Dimitrov - maistora. The historical museum offers a lot to be seen as well. Go to spa! The mineral waters in Kyustendil are very healing and do not miss to enjoy the open water pools with hot water especially in winter time.

    This is the iconic monastery of Bulgaria. It is free and well worth the visit. It should only take you about two hours to see the whole monastery. Make sure to out the back side of the monastery and buy some makitsa.

    We especially enjoyed the hot springs and that it's close enough for a trip to the seven rila lakes. The town itself is pretty quiet, we've been at the beginning of july and there weren't a lot of turists. Out stay was during the week (wednesday-friday).

    Very friendly and helpful staff, great car parking, comfortable bed, good wifi, nice swimming pool (a little on the small side). Very good breakfast with a good choice of different options. On the down side, no lift, no air-conditioning and a little deceptive to mention that the Rila Monastery was about 16km away...not CLEARLY mentioning that this is in a straight line. It is a one and a half hour drive..... 😔

    Kyustendil is not really a tourism city.

    Kyustendil is not really a tourism city. Street names are in Bulgarian only; there are lots of restaurants on the square, but none had a menu in any language other than Bulgarian. There are not many attractions, but most are located within walking distance of the main square.

    There was enough to see at the monastary, even though most museums there seemed no to be open (it was February!). Entrance is free but be ready to pay 5 levs for parking (you do get all day for that). The area has dramatic scenery with some other things to see other than just the Monastary. We visited the grave of James Baucher and discovered why Sofia has a station named after this Irishman!
