Placentia is the 'island' you can drive to, which does give you option to visit inland sites like Cockscomb National Park or see the Red Bank scarlet macaws for the day, if you want a break from the beach, an option you won't have in Caye Caulker or San Pedro. The barrier reef is still fairly close, with good snorkeling and diving. Laughing Bird Caye is only 12 miles offshore, about a 30 minute ride with Splash Dive.Guest review byErikUnited States - 8.0

I was there in slow season, so it was nice to see what regular life in Hopkins looks like, but the downside (as a solo traveler) was that I couldn't book a snorkeling trip, because no one was going out. And many places were closed. Not a problem for me, because I wasn't there to party, but I would've liked to see more of the cultural side of Hopkins.Guest review byYolanda - 10.0

Ended our week in Belize with an amazing stay at Maya Beach. Terrific rooms with incredible views and well appointed areas for relaxing. Added bonus: best food in Placencia is offered at the onsite restaurant- The Bistro. How nice to not have to look for places to eat. All the best food & drink was offered onsite. But we did love De Tatch in Placencia for breakfast!Guest review byAnonymous - 8.0

The town is very nice, a little bit underdeveloped but you can see the great possibilities for growth there. Not a posh place for sure, but pretty friendly and picturesque. Good food, a laid-back atmosphere.Guest review byGuntaLatvia - 8.0
Take the puddle jumper. It is very much worth it.
Take the puddle jumper. It is very much worth it. The Naia resort is very laid back. Very serene and private. Very safe and very clean. Not a foodie resort. A very good place for romance and relaxation. Would recommend it to anyone, even experienced resort travelers looking for a new place to get far away from the crowds and enjoy themselves.Guest review byWalterUnited States - 6.0
Hopkins is a vibrant village with great eateries.
Hopkins is a vibrant village with great eateries. We really enjoyed biking around the village and down the beach. However the garbage that washes up onto the beach is a real detractor. I hope the village will address this issue in the future.Guest review bysharonUnited States - 8.0

Cute boutique resort hotel, great location, well kept grounds, very friendly staff. The room was spacious, clean, comfortable, and we could have easily stayed for longer. We loved being able to sit on our porth and watch the sun rise, and the 40 steps to the water. It was very pretty. The food at the restaurant, which was always busy, was good. The kayaks & SauP to youse are great. We paddled to around the bay & over to the marina & found ourselves floating amongst a pod of dolphins. I’d 10/10 recommend this place and would stay again.Guest review byJessicaUnited States - 2.0

Stay here, if you have to (e.g. on the way to somewhere else). The town has nothing to offer and the beach really isn't nice (sand, but not the nice white one, and in the water it is shallow and muddy and there is garbage on the shore).Guest review byLukaSlovenia - 10.0

Unlike the islands, Palencia is more laid back. Less hustle of the tourists going on than up north. Well, there was one guy on the sidewalk that was pretty persistent but we had a great conversation and did support a local artist!Guest review byRobertUnited States - 8.0

It seems to be a nice safe little town, and I like the beaches there better than those of Placencia, for example. However, we ran into unexpected difficulty finding a place to have meals. I'd have to recommend staying at an establishment that has its own restaurant, as the number of free-standing restaurants is extremely limited.Guest review byZerotronUnited States
