ItalySuper comfortable location, Monica was great in taking care of everyone. Breakfast is amazing with a wide choice of salty and sweet, fresh bread every day. The atmosphere is very familiar. Just 2 minutes from the train station - great if you stay here to hike around. But also, 7min walking distance to the city center. Lovely stay, very quite despite the closeness to the train station (you don't hear a thing). Comfy bed while the pillow is the classic huge and structureless that hotels love so much.

The food in the restaurant is amazing. We speak English only and everyone was incredibly friendly.
Located within walking distance to many great activities and shops.

This is truly a magical place. First off, consider staying at least a few days. You will be sorry if you spend only one night here. The hotel is in a very cute village overlooking the Saentis range with a breathtaking view. Even better than the view is the restaurant. Great breakfast will be prepared for you in the morning. The restaurant in the hotel is one of the best in the region.
The room we stayed is perfect, recently renovated, modern bathroom and with a killer view.
Also, the sensitivity of the hosts to allergies has been very welcome. My wife suffers from celiac disease, and we were able to get fresh glutenfree bread as well as recommendations for dishes suitable for her throughout our stay. Very pleasant surprise.

Lukas the manager / owner was personable, a great chef, very artistic with good taste. He has a little studio stocked with home made chocolates, biscuits and hard bread.
The breakfast had home made / regionally sourced ingredients of the highest quality
The rooms had a contemporary, clean look and were comfortable.
I enjoyed the little sitting room that was bright and cheery. Staff were helpful and friendly. Very convenient location ~100m from the train station but one doesn't hear the train with the windows shut.

Ideal location, not too far from the train station. We started all of our walks from the hotel which was very convenient. Beautiful views from our room. The owners were very polite and friendly. Our breakfast was delicious and we enjoyed a lovely evening meal there also. We will definitely return.

Extremely friendly and welcoming. It is a great location in the peaceful countryside but with easy access to Appenzell and all of the nearby lifts. Breakfast is included, and a lovely restaurant offers delicious meals. Corinne was a fantastic host.

The staff was exceptional. The food was good, freshly prepared and plenty of options for the breakfast. The location was very convenient. If you are a runner, there's a trail right next to the hotel, it's brilliant.

We had a wonderful last minute trip to Appenzell.
We had a wonderful last minute trip to Appenzell. It was beautiful and friendly town. As we visit midweek in September is was less crowded and more enjoyable. We really enjoyed strolling through town and visiting the near by Eberalp Lift and walk to the Aescher Inn. The cloudy weather lifted and allowed us to see the entire valley.

We arrived by car but walked back to Appenzell when we checked out to catch a train. It was a beautiful walk through meadows and woods and took 2 hours 45 minutes.
The staff were friendly and the place very clean. Excellent location for walking .
On one walk we stopped for coffee at the Ahorn and it was lovely.

This is an absolutely precious town.
This is an absolutely precious town. Very quaint and cozy away from the city. You can walk all over the whole town admiring the traditional homes. Very quiet and laid back. No hustle and bustle of city life. This is the place to go if you want to get away and relax at a quiet slow pace.

Weissbad Lodge is a lovely place, casual, with reduced service but excellent very modern and comfortable rooms just adjacent to the Weissbad train station and not far from the town of Appenzell and the the Ebenalp and Hoher Kasten cable cars. It is a lovely tranquil area to spend a few days. Especially innovative is the breakfast delivered in a paper bag to your door in the morning and the Generosity Wall which has a coffee machine, a snack machine, a microwave , utensils etc. to make your stay more pleasant. The main Hof Weissbad hotel is nearby and available for for first class restaurant meals as is the really fine Alpenhof family restaurant just across the small river that runs by the lodge. It should be noted that the Appenzell Card is a terrific free offer for guests who stay three nights in the canton: it includes train travel from anywhere in Switzerland, free local public transport entrance to a number of museums and other attractions as well as cable car rides. Really a special deal.

The scenic and cultural and historical attractions inn this very tourist-friendly area of Switzerland were very much to my liking. These include the accommodations, the local people, the local foods, the cafes and restaurants, the museums, the agricultural countryside, the train and public car transportion systems and the mountain trails and cable cars.
