Excellent mobility with clock precision of local transportation and unlimited free access to it for hotel guests visiting city. We stayed in Basel for a week, using it as a transit point for traveling to other cities in the area: Colmar, Luzerne, and Freiburg. Basel itself has easily enough to see for three full days: interesting museums, beautiful architecture, cathedrals, dining, etc. If you stay for more than a day you get a Basil Pass which allows you to use public transit for free. Basel has a mix of old buildings, many museums (~40), lots of interesting streets and alleyways as well as a full range of good quality shops and restaurants. Very enjoyable to walk along the tree lined paths along the Rhine too, where you can find numerous drink stalls and openings to restaurants.
