FAQs about hotels in German Mosel
A Wine Region of Imperial Fame
A beautiful German wine district punctuated by medieval castles, the Mosel centres on the meandering Moselle River between Koblenz and the Luxembourg border. The most famous wine produced here is the crisp Riesling, and many vineyards are picturesquely located on the steep banks of the river.
The Mosel hotels, guest houses and apartments on Booking.com are spread all over this fantastic region, with many set right by the river and offering spectacular views of the lush scenery. Each town and village has its own characteristics and there are wine tours and tastings galore to be enjoyed.
There are too many Mosel Valley attractions to list them all, but highlights include Alken castle, set high on a hill overlooking the riverside village below. One of the most spectacularly located castles is at Cochem on a lush hill by a bend in the river, while Bernkastel-Kues has a stunning medieval core with brightly painted half-timbered houses.
This tranquil area has been prized since Roman times and nowhere is this more evident than in wonderful Trier. Along with ruins of 3 Roman baths and an amphitheatre, the Porta Nigra and a bridge from the imperial era still stand and Emperor Constantine’s old throne room is now a basilica.

- From US$94.06 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.2Very good - What previous guests thought, 579 reviewsSurprisingly incredibly beautiful hotel. I went to see a friend who lives nearby and did not expect anything special from either the location or the hotel. However, I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of services. Very tasty food, spacious lobby, comfortable beds, gifts in the form of sweets from the hotel for Easter, a very pleasant smell of soap and shower gel in the bathroom, free minibar, free late check-out until 14.00 on holidays. As for the food, I strongly recommend eating only at the hotel, since there is nothing similar in taste in Alken, I regret that the first days I had lunch somewhere else. In general, the hotel has an excellent price/quality ratio, I can definitely recommend it to everyone.Guest review byMaksymCzech Republic
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 8.7Fabulous - What previous guests thought, 827 reviewsWe came here to celebrate our first wedding anniversary and the hotel staff prepared a welcome gift and set up a romantic table for our dinner. The hotel and the staff are great, it was our second time here. We would say - a perfect place to relax and enjoy the spa facilities with your partner. Breakfast was really good as well- fresh, tasty and satisfying. A big positive for us was that the hotel is dog friendly, so we absolutely loved it that we could bring our four legged fur baby with us. They welcomed our dog with a sleeping mat, a bowl and heart shaped treats. We will definitely keep coming back to Weisser Bär. Thank you so much!Guest review byRodilynBelgium
- From US$317.47 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.9Fabulous - What previous guests thought, 892 reviewsFantastic hotel in gorgeous location. We were upgraded to a junior suite. Spa facilities were excellent. Staff very friendly. We had the 4 course evening set menu, which was superb for me having the fish option and my wife having the vegetarian option. The wine accompaniment for my meal was great too, with local wines being paired with each dish. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, such a pity that we were only staying one night. Love to come back and explore the beautiful village of Traben-Trarbach.Guest review byPaulUnited Kingdom

The location is peaceful yet just a short walk from the centre. Breakfast was excellent every day, and one morning when we were late, they kindly prepared food for us anyway. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful throughout. Highly recommend!Guest review byLoredanaRomania

Wonderful visit to the black gate, free of charge.
Wonderful visit to the black gate, free of charge. City center is nice. The roman museum was a bit of a let down - all signs in German, and even with the audio guide most items did not have any explanation. City center did not have that many restaurants.Guest review bygregohbUnited States - 8.0

A nice little town with a lovely castle but other than visiting the castle not much to do unless you are a hiker so would only recommend a short stay. Very little variance in for, too many pizza joints.Guest review byDouglasCanada - 10.0

Both towns are scenic in terms of architecture and the Mosel. Good restaurants, an Aldi and an Edeka for groceries. Good museum of the area. Two days is ample for seeing everything and relaxing. Also a good location for taking a boat trip, which is lovely. Already quiet by early September.Guest review byDEBORAHUnited States - 10.0

Family vacation house on the Mosel
Family vacation house on the Mosel 3 generations of one family (and a dog) – spent here 2 nights in May, 2024. This house is a very good place for family vacation: 3 bedrooms, a kitchen with a dinner table, a living room and 2 good bathrooms. Pet-friendly – this is fortunately typical for Germany. Distances: ~ 100m from Mosel. ~ 1.3 km to Edeka supermarket, ~ 7 km to Cochem center. There are also 2 minor “cons”: no dishwash machine and no Mosel view. Friendly host. Recommended for family vacation.Guest review bySergey VorobyevNetherlands - 10.0
Treis-Karden is a good base to go hiking.
Treis-Karden is a good base to go hiking. The hiking trail to Burg Eltz was very nice, I did the black route. The last part is the heaviest part. I went to the viewing point of the castle and then went back. I did that because there is an entrance fee that you have to pay for the castle, even if you just want to order food and drinks. In the afternoon I went to Mörsdorf to visit the Geierlay hanging bridge, which was awesome. Note that the bus (line 746) does not go there every hour and that the line is not currently on Google Maps. So search online for the schedule or visit the tourist office in the train station. During my stay the buses ran from the water-side of the station instead of the official bus stop, so double check if that is the case for you. Both these things could have been their own day, since there are more hiking trails available in both places.Guest review byAri FijanNetherlands - 10.0
