FAQs about hotels in German Mosel
A Wine Region of Imperial Fame
A beautiful German wine district punctuated by medieval castles, the Mosel centres on the meandering Moselle River between Koblenz and the Luxembourg border. The most famous wine produced here is the crisp Riesling, and many vineyards are picturesquely located on the steep banks of the river.
The Mosel hotels, guest houses and apartments on Booking.com are spread all over this fantastic region, with many set right by the river and offering spectacular views of the lush scenery. Each town and village has its own characteristics and there are wine tours and tastings galore to be enjoyed.
There are too many Mosel Valley attractions to list them all, but highlights include Alken castle, set high on a hill overlooking the riverside village below. One of the most spectacularly located castles is at Cochem on a lush hill by a bend in the river, while Bernkastel-Kues has a stunning medieval core with brightly painted half-timbered houses.
This tranquil area has been prized since Roman times and nowhere is this more evident than in wonderful Trier. Along with ruins of 3 Roman baths and an amphitheatre, the Porta Nigra and a bridge from the imperial era still stand and Emperor Constantine’s old throne room is now a basilica.

- From US$219.62 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.7Fabulous - What previous guests thought, 846 reviewsWe came here to celebrate our first wedding anniversary and the hotel staff prepared a welcome gift and set up a romantic table for our dinner. The hotel and the staff are great, it was our second time here. We would say - a perfect place to relax and enjoy the spa facilities with your partner. Breakfast was really good as well- fresh, tasty and satisfying. A big positive for us was that the hotel is dog friendly, so we absolutely loved it that we could bring our four legged fur baby with us. They welcomed our dog with a sleeping mat, a bowl and heart shaped treats. We will definitely keep coming back to Weisser Bär. Thank you so much!Guest review byRodilynBelgium
- From US$185.51 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 9.0Superb - What previous guests thought, 778 reviewsI can say that was our luck to stay in this place. I love it. If we go again to Cochem , we definitely stay in this place again. Service, location, atmosphere in Village Vinum is excellent! I love concept of “open” bar. There are fridges with drinks and glasses. People can jut take what ever they want, write on paper what they take and pay by the end of station. By the way it’s dog friendly hotel , that’s one more reason why we preferred this wonderful place.Guest review byIuliiaGermany

The staff were very polite and helpful, going above and beyond to ensure we had a pleasant experience. The breakfast was amazing, with everything you could wish for — eggs were freshly prepared by the kitchen. We especially enjoyed the wellness area and the pool, which were both very clean and harmonious. All in all, we had a fantastic friends' weekend in the Mosel region, and I would recommend this hotel without any hesitation.Guest review byVeronikaNetherlands

Wonderful visit to the black gate, free of charge.
Wonderful visit to the black gate, free of charge. City center is nice. The roman museum was a bit of a let down - all signs in German, and even with the audio guide most items did not have any explanation. City center did not have that many restaurants.Guest review bygregohbUnited States - 10.0
Beautiful little town. A must see castle.
Beautiful little town. A must see castle. The boat ride was disappointing. A recording in English with the town history would have been nice as this is a tourist attraction. So we found this a waste of money. Train stop close. Good wine! Restaurants close early for dinner.Guest review byColleen FUnited States - 10.0

Lots of things to do and see. Boat trips available and public transportation available. Bus and trains. Wine and the food were exceptional. The castle is unique and a nice place to sit and see the overview of the town.Guest review byNancyUnited States - 10.0

Both towns are scenic in terms of architecture and the Mosel. Good restaurants, an Aldi and an Edeka for groceries. Good museum of the area. Two days is ample for seeing everything and relaxing. Also a good location for taking a boat trip, which is lovely. Already quiet by early September.Guest review byDEBORAHUnited States - 10.0

The area was beautiful for walking around the little towns We caught local bus to Cochem for the day -- which was very easy we travelled in October so a few places had closed but still enough places to eat and have a glass of wineGuest review byRhondaAustralia - 10.0

Very good for walking - great trails, well-waymarked. Quite a good choice of restaurants for a small town. But there is no supermarket - only a post office with a few items of food, but no fruit or yogurt.Guest review byTim SpantonUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Family vacation house on the Mosel
Family vacation house on the Mosel 3 generations of one family (and a dog) – spent here 2 nights in May, 2024. This house is a very good place for family vacation: 3 bedrooms, a kitchen with a dinner table, a living room and 2 good bathrooms. Pet-friendly – this is fortunately typical for Germany. Distances: ~ 100m from Mosel. ~ 1.3 km to Edeka supermarket, ~ 7 km to Cochem center. There are also 2 minor “cons”: no dishwash machine and no Mosel view. Friendly host. Recommended for family vacation.Guest review bySergey VorobyevNetherlands - 10.0
Treis-Karden is a good base to go hiking.
Treis-Karden is a good base to go hiking. The hiking trail to Burg Eltz was very nice, I did the black route. The last part is the heaviest part. I went to the viewing point of the castle and then went back. I did that because there is an entrance fee that you have to pay for the castle, even if you just want to order food and drinks. In the afternoon I went to Mörsdorf to visit the Geierlay hanging bridge, which was awesome. Note that the bus (line 746) does not go there every hour and that the line is not currently on Google Maps. So search online for the schedule or visit the tourist office in the train station. During my stay the buses ran from the water-side of the station instead of the official bus stop, so double check if that is the case for you. Both these things could have been their own day, since there are more hiking trails available in both places.Guest review byAri FijanNetherlands - 10.0
