Such an amazing island paradise, we never got bored during our 5 nights here. The local staff are all genuine lovely people, and it's easy to make friends. Lounging around the beach with a book or swimming in the perfect water is always a joy. We did one guided activity per day, like the summit hike and snorkeling with reef sharks, which were epic, and after dinner there was something different each evening, like a beach bonfire one night and Bula dancing the next. The rooms are great. It's just a beautiful place with beautiful people. We will come back! - Zack & Susan

This was the most unbelievable place to stay if you want complete calm & serenity. It is totally removed from the outside world & is an oasis of calm & peace. The staff are amazing & most of them are islanders who are totally invested in Oarsman Bay & the experience that they want their guests to have. The whole ethos behind Oarsman Bay is wonderful & how it helps & supports the wider community of the island. Fantastic snorkeling, amazing food, wonderful staff.

What a special experience we had at Ravita Cove! Words can’t express how grateful we feel to have stayed in such a beautiful place. Cookie and his staff are the kindest and warmest people ever and went above and beyond to make sure we felt at home. Although our stay was quite short, we made unforgettable memories there, we enjoyed the private beach and went snorkelling and spearfishing. The place is quiet, comfortable and the meals are extremely delicious. We would definitely recommend this homestay and hope to visit again in the near future. Vinaka Cookie and Ravita Homestay staff.

The cleanliness is amazing. The property is new and the craftsmanship was excellent in the buildings and furniture. The outdoor showers at the back of each bure were amazing and the mattress was really good quality. The vibe was chill and I felt like I could properly switch off and relax. The view was stunning, the coral was great for swimming. Even got to gather some sea grapes with the locals.

The food! We would like to give the chef a HUGE thumbs up! So delicious and nice. I also liked the visit to the school and village. Everyone is so nice, and it was truly an unforgettable experience for us. And it was very lucky that our last day was FIJI National Day! We attended the ceremony. It was fun, and I was a bit touched when seeing Fijians being so proud of their country. It's also the National Day of my country, but I've never attended this kind of ceremony to show my love and respect.

This village home-stay was a joy and a privilege to experience, with true Fijian heart felt hospitality. The people are absolutely lovely here. You got to have a meal in a different home every day and meet the families. They will treat you with utmost respect so prefer to sit with you while you eat and then they eat later. It is their way of caring and respecting you so please dont feel it as rejection. The food was fantastically fresh and traditional with fresh fish, crab and locally sourced and grown fruit and veges. Life is simple and uncomplicated. Church is a big part of life here and at 6am and 6pm the huge log drum was used to summon parishioners. The singing was absolutely beautiful. The community hall got lot of use with meetings, cava ceremonies and gatherings. It was wonderful to see the local children arrive home from school in a small boat on Friday. Once they are over 9yrs they board at another location on the island to attend school together and come home every weekend to eagerly awaiting parents. The junior school in the village is very cute and the children love interaction. Given the true traditional nature of this unspoiled village you must keep to the traditions and not wear hats in the village and ladies must wear a sarong so no shorts, leggings or trousers. Drinking water is free and there are mosquito nets although I didnt experience any mosquitoes. No shop here but you can charge your phone. If you can bring any medical supplies such iodine, bandages, bandaids and dressings please do as the local health centre is a boat trip away and supplies can be limited for them. They will soo very much appreciate your kindness. Please do not bring plastics as they cannot be recycled. Any supplies for the school will also be gratefully received. Get cava for the chief if you can as this a a traditional gift. The best is the very long thick rooted type from Nandi market but it is pricey. Otherwise just bring a big smile :0)

We loved it so much! We stayed 7 days in a dorm tent and it was very comfortable and got cleaned every day. We went snorkeling every day from all of the 3 beaches and saw so many different fishes and corals. It was beautiful! But as muck diving lovers we enjoyed the muck diving with Rob the most! We were fortunate enough to find 3 different types of the rare Shaun the Sheep nudibranch, a ghostpipefish and even a seahorse. 🥰

Fantastic food. Beach is nice and the reef has amazing visibility. Some of the best snorkeling i have done. Shark dive is also super fun though it is on the pricier side of things (still reasonable). They offer shark and coral talks in the evenings which are free and super informative.

We wanted a homestay run by locals, so we got an authentic experience. No roads, no cars, only walking tracks and hiking trails. Wonderful. They are isolated, so no shop, I would recommend taking sachet coffees etc if you like more than instant. If you get inspired to want to help them (as I was) you could think of taking snorkelling flippers and leaving them there, or packraft paddles (they come apart), or a yoghurt maker and powder packets to make yoghurt. Some books, games, or big maps of Yasawa. We had a week, which was just right....but didn't get to do all the activities we intended to. Too nice being relaxed and even lazy. The ferry ride there is fun and interesting and they supply complimentary transfers to and from accommodation. South Sea Cruises. Apparently there is a supply boat from Lautoka once a week which is much cheaper.

BareFoot Kuata was a fair or probably a bad place to stay.

BareFoot Kuata was a fair or probably a bad place to stay. It is focused on the Backpacker tourist and even for that customer segment I find it expensive for the quality of food and accommodation. Food was not good at all. A typical buffet with the regular stuff and nothing that will impress you. Basic food. Basic coffee. Basic Tea. The staff at the restaurant were just doing their job but they were never friendly or welcoming. The guy that took my luggage to the Bure told me as I arrived how tired he was of working and walking to the most distant Bure which is number 30. More of hinting for a tip. Also he suggested to be approached individually if I wanted a fresh coconut. The facilities were simply all right. There were lounges by the beach that had not seen any proper cleaning or maintenance in a long time so it looks sad and abandonned. The staff at the Dive Shop when being asked for a kayak at 4 pm looked like they were not keen to help as they finish their day at 5 pm. Cleaning could have been better. The hotel lacks greenery other than what is there already, as pathways and common areas could be enhanced and made more beautiful. Once again, if you are into the backpacking world, this could be for you. But if you want a more boutique hotel or intimate experience, then I would go somewhere else. The only reason why I chose it was the snorkeling with the sharks but you can do that as a day visitor.

Gorgeous island - beautiful beaches, coral reef, and the island itself is lovely - you can go on a mountain forest walk as well as be on the beach. Delicious food, and lots of activities - we enjoyed the mountain walks, the beaches, diving, snorkelling and also just relaxing by the pool, trying out the yoga classes and massages and also the trips to the nearby local villages.

The best parts of my stay included staying at Waya Lai Lai Eco Haven resort - the cultural immersion and exposure to the local village, getting to know the local staff, the intentionality and hospitality they all showed consistently towards guests, the excellent home cooked food and fun activities. This is a very special place, great location, peaceful, quiet, clean and easy to get to - perfect for taking a break, relax and recharge from the usual busyness of life! The resort offers great views of the ocean, one of the best sunset we have seen, clean white sandy beach, local food and culture experiences, snorkeling, handline fishing, swimming with Manta rays and many other activities. Most importantly, you will be taken great care of by an incredible team of staff led by Paul and Liti. Special thanks to Nimi, Peci, Anne, Rusi, Fane, Sai, Api, Lai, John, Rauga and La. We miss you all and looking forward to be back soon ❤️😊
